BalloonSlayer he was actually called Enos.

ThatllDoPig · 02/08/2011 15:38

Definately too anus like. IMO

My Mum wanted me to call my daughter Clytemnestra. She thought "Clytie" would make a good nickname. When I said I thought the child would be mocked about her name, she said "Oh, I don't think so, dear. I can't see anything they would be able to make out of the name Clytie".

I've just looked it up, CalamityKate and you're right . . . many apologies!

I wonder where I read that he was called Aeneas? What a shame - I thought the people who wrote the show were doing a bit of clever irony there. Grin

Hope DH doesn't look at the Internet History and wonder why I am googling the Dukes of Hazzard. Blush

According to Scotlandspeople website, there have been 25 boys whose names have included Aeneas born in Scotland since 1990. It doesn't say how many of those were first names, and how many were middle names.

So, 25 sets of parents who didn't make the Aeneas = anus connection.

I bet they are kicking themselves now.

effingwotnots · 02/08/2011 20:00

What about anais?

CoteDAzur · 04/08/2011 12:53

Arguably, that is the one name that would be more cruel than Aeneas for a boy.

crystalglasses · 04/08/2011 12:56

atticus - attic = nickname 'lofty'?

AberdeenAngusina · 04/08/2011 15:40

Curiosity got the better of me, and I've paid 23p to the scotlandspeople site for a breakdown of recent Aeneas's. Only 5 had Aeneas as their first name between 1990-2009 in Scotland; the others were middle names.

All of them had very traditional, safe names as their other name; John, James, David, Adam, Michael etc.
