Which boy's name do you prefer?!

Hi!

I don't know if I'm having a boy or a girl, but while we've got a girl's name all sorted, we've been thrashing out the same boys' names for months now and with 6 weeks to go I'd like some opinions! Please be (brutally) honest!

Ezra
Toby
Charlie
Reggie

I know Charlie- and Toby to a certain extent- are very popular, and that bothers me a bit, but I also love them both so think I'd be prepared to live with that! I LOVE Reggie as it's quite traditional but not popular... but is that for good reason?!! My mum says it should only ever be used by someone over 90 (but she's massively supportive whatever so that's not an issue!)

Thank you!

Charlie

I like Toby too, then Charlie.
Sorry, I can't help but think of a cat with Felix, might just be me though Smile.

tummytickler · 30/07/2011 11:05

Not keen on Felix - it is the name of an ex boyfriend who wasn ot very nice so it has ruined the name for me!
If you are ditching Ezra then I think Toby is my favourite from those left. Every Toby I have ever met has been lovely. Would go for Tobias as a full name though!

My BIL is called Reg, and as a punk in the 70's he truly hated it. He's always been super cool, but now at 50 going on 18 he still absolutely hates it.

Unless it has gone all the way through seriously uncool and out the other side I'd probably avoid it.

Charlie or Felix both nice, but Charlie is nicer.

Ps Reg's middle name is Charles!

I prefer Felix to your initial shortlist.

KateBC · 30/07/2011 20:26

Love Toby
Quite like Charlie and Reggie

Also love Ezra, it was my cat's name!

RickGhastley · 30/07/2011 20:29

Really like Ezra.

Blu · 30/07/2011 20:33

Reggie is very up and coming as a name.
I like it.

All nice - Ezra is my least favourite.

I only like Charlie. Toby and Felix are too wet and Reggie just makes me think of the Kray's tbh.

exoticfruits · 30/07/2011 22:32

I knew a cat called Reggie-it suits pets. (but not DCs)

somewherewest · 01/08/2011 12:07

Toby: Nice, but quite 'public school'
Charlie: Makes me think of the drug (not sure what that says about me ;-) )
Reggie: I'm picturing a decrepit ex-colonel with a handle bar moustache propping up the bar with a pint of real ale and a Daily Telegraph to hand. Sorry!

I lurve Ezra. I also like Felix, but don't think I'd use it (DH vetoed it very early on because it made him think of cat food

lastonetoleaveturnoutthelights · 04/08/2011 21:48

IMO you should really name your child the proper full name Charles or Reginald: and Reginald is just a really really ugly name I think. Also Reggie Kray, mass-murdering gangster, is the association that springs to mind.

Which leaves Charles (Charlie) or Toby. I think I prefer Toby of the two.

evamummy · 04/08/2011 21:52

Ezra is lovely and has a nice meaning (hebrew - helper). It is also not as overused as your other suggestions.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 04/08/2011 21:52

Yeah, but what if you love Charlie and hate Charles? I am always known by my nickname and HATE having to use the dowdy, old fashioned full name on anything official or at the doctors etc.
