We were so very close to naming our first child Hector and are still considering it in the long list for our second. However my Mother hated it and said "Hector, Hector the Tax Inspector" to me everytime I saw her and other friends sang the Morrissey song about being "the first in the gang"..thought as we are in gritty South East London that it might have been a bad omen....
I do love it though.

Love it, wanted it for DS. -D- H hated it.

Got rid of the husband, should have insisted on the name I wanted Grin

Love it - first choice of name for dc3.

I know a (not so little anymore) Hector Lancelot - I suspect he'll have the personality to pull it off, but it's a risk.

His mother is a Classicist.

DH wanted Hector. He's Scottish and it's such a strong name. It just didn't go with our surname sadly.

Love it.

Hector
1 ( verb ) Hector ( Greek mythology ) a mythical Trojan who was killed by Achilles during the Trojan War
2 ( verb ) strong-arm, bully, browbeat, bullyrag, ballyrag, boss around, hector, push around be bossy towards "Her big brother always bullied her when she was young"
1 ( noun ) hector a bully; a blustering, turbulent, insolent, fellow; one who vexes or provokes
2 ( verb ) hector to treat with insolence; to threaten; to bully; hence, to torment by words; to tease; to taunt; to worry or irritate by bullying 3 ( verb ) hector to play the bully; to bluster; to be turbulent or insolent Noun

Not a nice association imo.

It DOES remind me of the Morrissey song, but I still kinda like it!
