Does it matter if initials spell out a word?

Only have one first name that we both like. Want middle name to be from the family. Only one that sounds right leaves the 3 initials spelling out a word. Does that matter?

I do wonder when a middle initial is a vowel I am RAC fine, ds MAC not too bad DD REC not so sure about that one wish I had considered before we chose it though it's not a word in itself it's not an attractive syllable keep thinking rectum - doh Blush

BRA not the best to be honest definitely worth swapping round if possible Wink

I know a FAG and an ASS.

The FAG is female, the ASS is male.

Poor kid had ASS embroidered on his towels. Oops.

b4 i got married my initials were VD how unfortunate and the result of a lot of bullying at school

OP - you say you want to avoid 2 middle names... but surely 2 middle names is better than BRA or BJ type initials?
So I back up the suggestions of BRJA.

I tend not to get too fixated on initials, but when they spell out something rude (or potentially rude) I think you would be silly not to seriously consider other options.

My DD is RMW but if she uses her nickname it is BMW, which she is rather pleased with.

Dp has MAP as his

And of course he got called map at school

I'd go for 2 middle names.

We all have 2 in my family and it's fine, I dropped the first middle one on non official paperwork and just keep using the second, but I'm glad I was given the choice.

I do think that initials BRA for a boy would be a bit much for a boy.

And of course if child were to be a DD then there's the potential for changing name on marriage to give an unfortunate set of initials. I'm F. A. Surname. There was potential for being FAT, FAG, FAX. Fortunately DH has an unoffensive surname initial Grin

I would go with two middle names, I have two and you do get the greedy/mouthful comments but it's never bothered me.

Our first girls name choice for DC3 gave the initials MOFO, didn't think anything of it until my Sister pointed it out, luckily we had a DS anyway.

I went to school with boy who was called BJ as his given name and no-one ever called him Blow Job, his school nickname was Beej.
There was an NOB Edwards who got NOB ED though.

BRA for a boy is definitely not ok!!

DS has 2 middle names because of a similar issue.

I've never ever heard anyone taking the piss out of someone for their initials. I don't even remember knowing the initials of anyone I went to school with.
