we've got a shortlist for DD3

I am expecting DD3 and have a shortlist.. I already have an Amy (full name Amelia but never uses it) and a Kyra...
For DD3 I am kean to have a name which isn't extemely common but isn't unusual/hard to spell or pronounce etc. My main problem is me and DH like nicknames but often not the full name!

Liberty (Libby)
Flora/Florence/Florianna (Flo)
Lydia
Thea
India
Matilda (Tilly, Tilda)
Emmeline (Emie, Emma, Mia, Millie, Emilie)
Olivia - Although worried as this is my best friends name, I have been best friends with her since school and we see each other/our kids are friends etc so feel I can't use this..
Saffron (Saffie)
Hilary/Hillary- A friend close to me called Hilary (Hils or Ree nn) passed away last year, she was very inpirational in many ways and close to me, and I always loved her name but can't imagine it on a baby, but think its beautiful for a young adult/when DD grows up

As you can see its quite a long list! It is ranked...
Opinions- just want people to point out things I havent seen about names.

That's a very nice selection you have there, I can understand why you're finding it difficult to choose.

My favourites are Liberty and Emmeline, with Liberty just slightly ahead. This is only because with Emmeline people will assume she's called Emily unless you pronounce the end very definitely all the time.

Is your Kyra a K-eye-ra or a K-ee-ra?

I have to reply as you have my name on your shortlist! That's a first, really and truly.

I don't like my name much tho, so don't use it.

Of yr list I like Florence very much (DS2's girl name) and also Matilda tho it's getting more popular.

Olivia is also very popular, ditto Poppy. Lots and lots of Emily/Emilia variants too and personally I think Emmeline (which I do like) is a bit close to Amelia.

Thea, not a name I've really thought about before, but it seems to fit with the others.
Libbys nice but it makes kyra stand out as the unusual one.

The only Lydia I ever knew disowned the name and was known by her middle name...I couldn't disagree with her!
I knew someone with the middle name Emmeline who was very embarrassed about it...
And as for Hilary/Hillary...in the same bracket as Doris, Edna and Phyllis.

My favourite from your list is Thea, I think it's beautiful. I also like Emmeline.

I'm not a massive fan of shortening names but do find that it happens anyway.

From your shortlist I like Florence, Lydia, Emmeline and Poppy best.

Saffron is my favourite and we only know one. How about using Hilary as a middle name to honour your friend?

Which names would go best with Hilary as a middle name IYO?

Clary we have an Emmeline and I can honestly say that so far its never been confused with Amelia.

I always thought of using Poppy as a nn for Phillipa, unlike the more usual 'Pippa'. (hate the name Pippa).

Liberty is nice.

I like the very old fashioned Protestant names like Temperance, Deliverance, Constance etc.... whcih is why DH has refused to have another dc.

I think it needs to be one syllable when you've you've got 2 3 syllable names ending in y. One solid syllable at the end finishes the name off a bit.

I wouldn't use both Hilary and Liberty. They're too rhymey with the same sounds... ih-er-ee.
