I met a little girl called Dilly a few years ago, and always thought it was sweet.

Delia? Or something else?

BellaBearisWideAwake · 20/07/2011 19:54

CointreauVersial · 20/07/2011 19:55

There's a girl in DS1's class called Dilly - her full name is Drusilla. Hmm

BibiBelle · 20/07/2011 21:08

DD3 is Cordelia Dylan known as Dylan which is also Dilly at times Smile Either Cordelia or Dylan would work

patindahat · 21/07/2011 14:26

Phyllida?

DessertsInReverse · 21/07/2011 14:39

fidelma

dillian apparently derives from the latin for worshipped and is not a modern invention

or if your really cruel brave you might feminize dilbert and consider dilberta /dilbertine

woolovermyeyes · 21/07/2011 16:32

My niece is known as Dilly - her name is Danielle. It transpired from 'Dilly Dolly Daydream' - she was a bit of a daydreamer as a youngster - so chilled out :)

mathanxiety · 21/07/2011 17:01

I know a Magdalena who is Dilly.

WottingerAndWottingerAreDead · 21/07/2011 21:04

I knew a female Dilly who was Delith or Dilith (you'd have to check Welsh sp/pronun not sure I'm remembering it correctly! When said outloud it was lovely though

rcdc · 22/07/2011 21:52

odile /odilia / odilie

Baffledandbewildered · 22/07/2011 22:19

We have a grown up Dilly just that nothing else . I love it and she seems happy with her unusual name

pestroid · 22/07/2011 22:23

Dilys or Cordelia here too.

Astrophe · 23/07/2011 13:09

WidowWadman · 23/07/2011 13:18

We shorten our Cordelia to Dilly

PippiLongBottom · 23/07/2011 14:52

"Lavender's blue, dilly, dilly, lavender's green
When I am King, dilly, dilly, you shall be Queen"

Takver · 23/07/2011 18:40

Wottinger, probably Delyth? Very pretty Welsh name, would shorten nicely to Dilly.

Bandwithering · 23/07/2011 19:07

Dylan for a girl is lovely. I odn't usually like putting boys names on girls though.

ErnesttheBavarian · 23/07/2011 19:23

My Adele is Delly for short. I was in a play bit and the woman next to me had a dd the same age. I was calling 'Delly', she was calling 'Dolly', so I asked her what Dolly was short for. Nothing. Her dd's name was Dolly. Hmmm.

BibiBelle · 23/07/2011 20:02

thank you Bandwithering - a lot of people HATE it!
