I met a Dorothy today, nn Dorrie. I thought it was a sweet name for a little girl. Due for a revival?

Tis a nice solid name for sure.

mumzy · 15/07/2011 19:15

Dottie!

PotteringAlong · 15/07/2011 19:20

If we have a girl I really want to call her maggie. DH is not so sure!

Bring back the names I say!

threecurrantbuns · 15/07/2011 19:33

I was only saying the other day I love that name but dh said he thinks its is nice but can't get over the eastender connection

MamaCorleone · 15/07/2011 19:35

Dorothy is an EXCELLENT name. If it wasn't my mum's name DD would have been Dorothy.

PaperBank · 15/07/2011 19:39

Nice, but don't like Dot/Dottie/Dorrie.

Psammead · 15/07/2011 20:54

I think Dorothy is lovely. I met a six month old one recently.

budgieshell · 15/07/2011 22:08

First thing I think of is wizard of oz she wasn't an old lady.

thederkinsdame · 15/07/2011 22:11

Are you sure she wasn't called Dolly rather than Dorrie, as that tends to be a more common diminutive?

razzlebathbone · 16/07/2011 23:45

It's lovely.

I don't get why they are termed 'old lady' as if a load of women just appeared out of nowhere and were never babies.

MirandaGoshawk · 17/07/2011 21:06

thederkinsdame she's Dorothy but they defo call her Dorrie. I hadn't heard it before but it sounded lovely.

I didn't connect Dot/dottie /Dorothy with her off East Enders. She's leaving/has left though, hasn't she? So wouldn't be a problem. Didn't connect Dolly with Dorothy either.

I looooove Dolly Smile

I had an Auntie Dolly Smile and love the name Dottie. Really cute!

PipFEH · 18/07/2011 11:53

We call my daughter Dotty/Dot as a pet name (her name is actually Scarlett - we call her that too!). We didn't do it on purpose it just sort of happened!

rainbowtoenails · 18/07/2011 11:58

I prefer Dorothea. Dorothy is too wizard of oz for me.
