I'd appreciate a quick opinion on our (hopefully!) final choice of names...

Hi

After much deliberation and considering several (on reflection) unwise options (Rafaella- 'cheap chocolcates', Sancroft- 'b and b in Brighton', we've finally settled on names we like and I'd appreciate an opinion. We don't know the colour yet and so...

Girl- Adelaide Kathleen Hope
Boy- Arthur George Frederick

Dd1 is Arabel Marguerite. I know they will both be 'a' names, can we get away with this? Also, what nicknames are there for Adelaide. DH likes Ada (after Ada Lovelace?!)- but does Ada sound a bit, erm, showgirl (or landgirl)?

Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks :)

Excellent! I LOVE the name Adelaide! It's what I'd call mine if I were having a girl.. but I'm not so... maybe next time.

Heidi is short for Adelaide. I know it sounds weird but it's because Adelaide is a germanic name- Adelheide. That's what I'd be using if i were you but Ada is nice too. It does reming me of Aunt Ada Doom who "saw something nasty in the woodshed" in Cold Comfort Farm, but there's no escaping that Ada is still a good name. And no I don't think it's too show-girl. It's not as if you were going to call her Lola!

Your boy names are good ones too, although personally I would have them the other way around. Frederick George Arthur.
