Here's the shortlist of baby names I'm considering that I generated with Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder. Let me know what you think.

Girls
Kenna
Myra
Neiva
Nila
Zanna

i like Neiva and Zanna Smile, not sure about the others.

fivegomadindorset · 14/07/2011 20:27

None of them sorry, if pushed probabley Zanna. Myra definitely not.

fishandlilacs · 14/07/2011 20:35

Why a definate no for Myra- is it the serial killer connections by any chance? That bothers me also, not my choice that one.

I like Nuala and Zillah, which are similar.... no, not Myra, and yes Hindley connection! Ava, Eva, Edie also pretty

kiteflying · 15/07/2011 07:34

Zanna can be nn for Suzannah. Could you not choose the more conventional and nn Zanna?

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 15/07/2011 07:38

They seem really different. Myra is old fashioned whereas...all the others look made-up to me. And Neiva just looks like it's spelt wrong, to boot.

razzlebathbone · 15/07/2011 09:24

Those are quite bizarre names. Except for Myra, which I can't see becoming detached from the obvious connotations for a long time yet, if ever.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 15/07/2011 09:36

Big fat zero for any of them from me.

MelinaM · 15/07/2011 09:41

Myra is absolutely a no go name! How about Lyra instead?

The others are rather bizarre! Lila instead of Nila?

NattersAndMutters · 15/07/2011 10:03

Not so sure about Myra. I used to work with a Myra, and the Hindley association never crossed anyone's mind for a moment because for us 'Myra' conjured up 'our' Myra.

That said, it wouldn't be a favourite of mine, but only because I don't care for the sound of it.

fishandlilacs · 15/07/2011 12:19

I like bizarre and different. I also want a name that ends with an "ah" sound

Neiva is spanish for snow apparently, January baby so snow on the ground very likely.

OP posts:
acatcalledbob · 15/07/2011 12:36

Nieve is Spanish for snow, not neiva. I wouldn't know how to pronounce this name - is it NEE-va, NEH-va, NEY-va, NIE-va...?

wineandcheese · 15/07/2011 12:36

The Spanish for snow is nieve, not neiva.

fishandlilacs · 15/07/2011 18:46

Oh right, well I was only going by the baby name website-Neiva is a variation on Neive. I dont want Neive though as it's a nn for Geneveive which i'm not all that keen.

Gos this baby naming lark is tough!

MugglesandLuna · 15/07/2011 21:38

They are all very different - you wouldnt have to worry about the names becoming too popular!

Rhubarbgarden · 15/07/2011 22:20

I know an adult Nila. I quite like it.

Sandalwood · 15/07/2011 22:22

Not as in 'Neiva her nor there' then?

Sandalwood · 15/07/2011 22:23

(here)

Karbea · 15/07/2011 22:34

Not my cup of tea I'm afraid.
