Do you think this is a boy's name or a girl's name?

Sheridan.

Do you like it? Would you use it for a boy or a girl? The other boys names on my list are all boring: Daniel, Gordon, Jack, Johnnie.

Boy

I like Gordon.

But I agree that Daniel, Jack and Johnnie are a little dull.

thumbwitch · 04/07/2011 12:06

Boy.
I would assume so anyway. I know it's been used as a girl's name as well (Sheridan Smith, the actress, for e.g.) but it still sounds like a boy's name to me.

Clarabumps · 04/07/2011 12:06

I think its a girls name although it reminds me of Tommy Sheridan..eek! Sorry but i'm not a great fan of it!Far prefer Daniel, Jack or Johnnie.. They're all lovely!!

mo3d · 04/07/2011 12:06

I think it could be either but if it's shortened it sounds girly Sheri. Although if it's shortened to dan, that's more masculine.

I like your other boy names Smile

cheesesarnie · 04/07/2011 12:07

sorry really dont like it.isnt it from the programme with hyacynth bouquet?dont know if boy or girl.

i actually prefer your 'boring' names spart from gordon.(still better than sheridan though)

meditrina · 04/07/2011 12:07

Boy.

I like it (but it does have a slight touch of Hyacinth Bucket to it).

LargeGlassOfWine · 04/07/2011 12:07

Who is Tommy Sheridan?

OP posts:
OTheHugeManatee · 04/07/2011 12:07

Neither - it's a surname Wink

thumbwitch · 04/07/2011 12:07

I am intrigued by the alcoholic association with your other choices though!
Johnnie (Walkers)
Jack Daniel(s)
Gordon(s) Gin.

Had you noticed? Grin

SuburbanDream · 04/07/2011 12:10

It can be either - can't think of any famous men but there is an actress called Sheridan Smith. Personally I like it better than your other names, only because Daniel, jack and Johnnie are v.popular. i had a boyfriend called Gordon once who was teased mercilessly because there was a song called Gordon is a Moron (but this was a hit in the 70s/80s so probably long forgotten song!!)

cheesesarnie · 04/07/2011 12:10

thumbwitch!Grin-didnt spot that!

thumbwitch · 04/07/2011 12:11

I knew there was a famous male Sheridan - just remembered it was Sheridan Morley.

HTH Grin

LargeGlassOfWine · 04/07/2011 12:12

Does that mean you wouldn't approve of my more out-there suggestions of Bailey or Mateus?

OP posts:
Cattleprod · 04/07/2011 12:12

Either.

Sheridan Smith - female
Sheridan Bucket - male

thumbwitch · 04/07/2011 12:13

Bailey is a quality name, nice creamy sound to it
Mateus is surely Spanish? or is it Italian...

How about Disaronno - that could be good?

thumbwitch · 04/07/2011 12:13

There's always the choice of Chardonnay, Chablis, Champagne etc. as well Grin

cheesesarnie · 04/07/2011 12:13

prefer bailey or mateus to sheridan.not very 'out-there' really if thats what you are aiming for.

Clarabumps · 04/07/2011 12:14

Tommy Sheridan- extremely annoying former scottish socialist party leader who sued a newspaper over a sex swinging story and was found guilty of perjury and is now serving a sentence in jail. Pain in the arse with bad fake tan and cheesy one liners. hth

cheesesarnie · 04/07/2011 12:14

god i fell for itGrin

LargeGlassOfWine · 04/07/2011 12:14

Those are girls name thumbwitch.

OP posts:
BellaBearisWideAwake · 04/07/2011 12:15

If it's a girl you could use Tia. Middle name Maria.

LargeGlassOfWine · 04/07/2011 12:15

For a girl I like Mary but not sure if Maria would be nicer. Tia is pretty too. And Sapphire.

OP posts:
LargeGlassOfWine · 04/07/2011 12:15

x-posts with Bella, I'm glad you like Tia too :)

thumbwitch · 04/07/2011 12:16

So they are, sorry, I forgot about the male bias.

Ok - how about Lowenbrau, Foster, Heineken (Could be Heiney for short), Sol?
Any of those?

MarioandLuigi · 04/07/2011 12:16

It can be for both, but I think it will get shortened to Sherry.
Its awaful though IMO.
