2 wks to go and we have *no names* picked out yet - help!!

I am 38wks pg with DC3 - don't know if it's a girl or a boy - and my DH and I literally have no names we agree on. DD is called Emily Rose and DS is Charles Lawrence (both names in DH's family) but we call him Charlie.

We both like traditional English names and nothing too faddy. For girls we lean towards pretty, feminine names and I also like flower names (DH is a landscape gardener so that would fit).

I would need a first and a middle name. If DC is a boy I would like to use Lomax as the middle name as again it is in DH's family. (BTW DH has yet to agree to this..) I have no middle family name to use for a girl.

For boys I wanted to use Archie but our cat was called that. I like Alfie, but DH does not. He wants Harry, but I'm not sure.

For girls I quite like Ruby Isabelle and Daisy but DH is not sure Daisy is a "proper" name.

That's as far as we've got..... Oh and both DD and DS were born early so time is literally running out!!!

Ruby Isabelle is very nice, and I like Daisy too (yes, it's a proper name! Think of Daisy Waugh).

How about Henry for a boy and you can also use nickname Harry?

Lomax is FAB! Would you consider that as a first name? I think Ruby and Daisy are both very popular at the moment.

I have two boys ( Harry and Tommy) who were both going to be Florence if they were girls. I love it- but it was a bit contraversial! I have also grown to like my own name ( Maggie) and think it's about time it was reclaimed from you-know-who.

Daisy is a traditional nickname for Margaret so you could go with that on bc and have Daisy as a nn. As MagCap says it's about time it was reclaimed!

I'm not sure if Ruby goes with your other names, and it does seem to be getting quite popular. I like Daisy and imo it is a 'proper' name. Apparently though it used to be a shorterned version of Magaret so you could use that and call her Daisy for short. It would be strange but cute. Other names that might suit

Think all the boys names suggested are great, particularly Albert. (Not an enormous departure from Archie and Alfie. Bertie is a sweet nn too.) have you considered Richard?

Holly for a girl?

My DD1 didn't have a name for 6 days as my DH and I couldn't decide what suited her. We had a general idea within a couple of days, but actually swapped over her first and middle names before it came to having to register her. She gets one of her names from the midwife, it wasn't on our list originally, but we both liked it.

One of my relatives had the same dilemma....their daughter was just labelled 'baby' by the hospital at the beginning and in the end they called her Abby partly because they liked it and partly because it was an anagram of baby.

Some people struggle to choose a name, then discount it when the baby arrives because it doesn't seem to suit their child.

Good luck with whatever you pick...it's a hard decision.
