Hi all,
On the hunt for boys names today....
So far we only have Thomas on our list but want to try a few more. We want a traditional name, nothing that's "now" but I also don't want anything too stuffy. We're quite keen to have a very English name too so would be happy to draw inspiration from writers, composers, royals etc! (the non stuffy ones anyway!)
Looking forward to hearing your suggestions! [smaile]

Well, Thomas is certainly very 'now' - isn't it in the top 10 most popular names?

How about:
Quentin (Quentin Blake)
Arthur (King Arthur)

Jacob
James
Harry
Richard
Albert
Louis

I don't mean "now" in terms of the top 10 as lots of those names have been around forever and will stay around. I mean the names that suddenly become popular for a few years and then drop off (I'm thinking Dexter, Finn etc) Sorry to anyone who has those names - I like them but want something more traditional!

I love Sebastian but hate Seb...
I like Benjamin too

Keep them coming!!

Thanks for these- we both really like George although DH said I can't call him "georgie" as a nn....so would he just be George or are there other nn's??

Hi Annie, i was thinking along the same lines, we have a Jack William and are having another boy, think he's going to be Thomas Daniel but it nice to see other suggestions, we considered Harry James as well, will decide when we see the little man xx

I have a George. We call him George (not Georgie) or G-Man or G-Star.

Other ones I liked are Edward, Samuel, Oliver, Felix, Henry, William, Robert (nn Bobby), Theodore, Magnus, Fergus, Arthur...

harrygracejessica · 24/06/2011 13:54

I have Oliver and Elliot as twin boys and Harry as a singleton :) and also twin girls lol - very hard choosing one name let alone 2!

Tigresswoods · 24/06/2011 22:26

Err... David?

joyful2day · 25/06/2011 09:09

I'm thinking of Alexander. I love traditional names but I wish everyone wouldn't keep shortening them. I don't mind Alex so much. Like Gabriel also but don't like Gabby which people may end up calling him. Keep us posted with what you chose.

rachel234 · 25/06/2011 11:56

George is ok but Georgie is a girls name im (I know too many Georginas called Georgie).

I really like
