Difficulty choosing girls names.....views please!

Expecting and awaiting arrival to discover sex - boys name sorted but struggling w possible girls names aside from middle name has to be 'Audrey'.....

Discussions include:

Matilda - ive wanted this for around 15 years but think now a no as too popular
Jemima - husband loves this but I hate the idea of 'Jem' as a nickname as do not like the name Jemma at all
Florence - we both like this
Pandora - we both like this but wonder if its too brave....

Any similar suggestions gratefully rcvd - would rather a name that is not the same as half the class at school.....

Matilda- I still love it, always have done as it was my Great Gran's name. If you love it go for it!
Jemima- I have a friend who is a Jemima and has Mima or Mim as a nn, we wouldn't dare call her Jem!
Florence- is beautiful, as is Flo.
Pandora- makes me think of a joke from Love Actually. "Knew a girl called Pandora once, never got to see her box though!"

With "A" as the middle initial, you'll need to make sure the initials don't spell out anything risible.

I think Matilda is lovely, and Florence is OK - they're not "half the class names", but there are quite a lot around. I love the name Jemima, but it really sounds as if you don't. And I think Pandora is lovelytoo, and I don't think you'd have to be brave.

How about: Cecilia, Rosalind, Miriam, Christabel, Daphne, Susannah, Tabitha?

Wow thanks for response - great to get an objective point of view! So far the few parents and friends we have asked have either loved our choices or ridiculed them! We are thinking Pandora and Florence are front runners - good as grown up names as well as little girls we think?

I've a Matilda (Tillie) and she is one of only 2 in the school if that helps? Last school she was the only one...

We have a Jemima .......she calls herself Jemmy.

Pandora is lovely and not as overused as the others. Florence in particular has become very popular (perhaps due to the Camerons) as has Matilda. So I'd vote for Pandora . Theodora is lovely too.

I have a Matilda and she will be the only one in her primary school. I also love Florence. DS would have probably been Florence if he hadn't been a DS. I too get the Pandora's box joke when I hear Pandora . Jemima is sweet.

Sirname begins with a C so will need to watch out for spellings! I love Tabitha and Theodora but husband not keen....I love Perdita too so thank you for that one! We still both love Pandora but dont want to sound like we are trying to be something we are not (ie incredibly wealthy) but we want a name that a daughter would be proud to say, I keep thinking of potential names as adults introducing themselves at a job interview and Pandora does have a certain weight and originality that I like. I also agree that Florence goes best with Audrey - finishing on an 'a' and starting doesnt sound great.

Florence by far. It goes well with Audrey.

I've at least met a few young Florries in the last 12 yrs, though, that's the closest to popular on your list.
Audrey Hepburn's middle name was Kathleen, any good? Kathleen is quite original nowadays.
