What do you think of net.com/baby-name-finder/boy/hugo Hugo as a boy's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

It is one of the two most beautiful boys' names in the world. :-).

SloganLogan · 10/06/2011 20:48

Felix would be my favourite, then Milo.

foxbasealpha · 10/06/2011 21:55

Milo then Felix for me. Don't love Hugo.

MelinaM · 10/06/2011 23:35

Hugo for me, Felix is fast becoming the new Oscar, and I've only ever come across Milo's of the canine varietyGrin

Awomancalledhorse · 11/06/2011 01:22

Personally, wouldn't give DS the name Hugo unless we had a french connection (I automatically think of Victor Hugo).
Felix is a black & white cat.
Milo is a dogs name to me, or the little boy from Phantom Tollbooth (so is my fav of the lot)!
Sorry!

kiteflying · 11/06/2011 02:41

Miles is better than Milo - he could be Milo as a nickname when small and cute then.
Felix is a favourite - I had not thought of the silly cat association until right now. How annoying.

WellIShouldNever · 11/06/2011 03:51

Aren't they cats names? Sorry, but I have known cats with all those names, especially Milo ( can think of at least 3!)

nearlytherenow · 11/06/2011 12:54

I like all of them, but I think that Hugo is my favourite - not as "now" as Felix, not quite as trendy as Milo, great on a baby or an adult.

Nightstar · 11/06/2011 13:32

Felix is far too popular amoungst the Fulham set

Hugo is really great name

Milo is just awful!

lisianthus · 11/06/2011 15:00

Hugo is probably my favourite. Felix is a popular cat food (and the cat!) and Milo is a hot drink- to my ears, it's like calling a child Bovril.

IslaValargeone · 11/06/2011 15:03

Love Hugo.

scarlettsmummy2 · 11/06/2011 15:09

My husband and I have Hugo on our list for number two. I really like it, although my hubby is worried it is a bit pretentious. Not fussed on Milo and dislike Felix.

nagynolonger · 11/06/2011 15:17

Hugo is lovely
Miles is nicer than Milo
And I'm sorry Felix is a cat.

mumzy · 12/06/2011 10:58

Depends on where you live if it's somewhere like Islington (arty lefty liberals professional who work in medja) then you'll be 10 a penny but industrial northern town then you'd be hard pressed to meet another one

sophiesmummie · 12/06/2011 11:03

I don't like the 'Heeooo' sound at the beginning of Hugo in English.

And Milo is a drink:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milo_(drink)

Felix is nice but it is a brand of cat food.

So personally, I'm not keen on any. But it is YOUR baby and you've got to choose the name YOU love, not us Smile.

catinboots · 12/06/2011 11:08

We have a Hugo and we get lots of compliments on his name.

He gets called Hugs, Baby Hugs or Hugzy Grin

colditz · 12/06/2011 11:18

If you live anywhere other than London or Surrey, you child will be beaten daily once he is 11, so don't do it.

smother · 12/06/2011 11:27

Milo and Felix both seem v popular these days.
Hugo is a tad on the posh side for me.

sophiesmummie · 12/06/2011 11:31

"If you live anywhere other than London or Surrey, you child will be beaten daily once he is 11, so don't do it."

Where do you live Shock?

colditz · 12/06/2011 11:41

Rural Leicestershire

rachel1970 · 12/06/2011 12:02

I too find the H sound of Hugo a little odd (prefer the H of Hug or Harold), but then Hug-o doesn't sound good either imo.

Milo is malted chocolate drink and Felix is a well known brand of cat food, which may or may not bother you.

But I wouldn't think there was anything teaseworth about these names, certainly not more than with name like William (e.g. Willy) for example - in fact most names can be teased with a little imagination.

TidyDancer · 12/06/2011 13:41

I think they all sound a bit too pretentious. But of the three, Hugo is better.

rachel1970 · 12/06/2011 16:29

Am surprised that some of you find these names 'teaseworthy' and 'pretentious'....We live in London with a great variety of names - lots of different nationalities and lots of different names, and no one bats an eyelid at some VERY unusual names. I find Hugo, Felix and Milo very common and, apart from the cat and/or malted drink connection, would not imagine that the kids I know would find anything 'teaseworthy' about these.

But I guess what one person finds 'pretentious' another finds normal Smile. Thankfully we all have different tastes.

SloganLogan · 12/06/2011 16:38

Agree that there are quite a few locally fashionable names which sound quite normal in certain parts of London but would seem a bit OTT elsewhere.

virginiasmonalogue · 12/06/2011 17:15

I love Hugo!! Much nicer than the others IMHO Smile
