Thea...I'm Irish though so there are lots of Maeve's and Niamh's about, Sophia is very pretty but a little too popular. I think Thea is beautiful

Mollydoggerson · 08/06/2011 23:23

Maeve for me, I'm also Irish.

danceswiththedaffodils · 08/06/2011 23:57

Niamh for me.

Just out of interest how are you pronouncing Thea? Th-e-ah or Tay-ah?

UndiscoveredApprentice · 09/06/2011 00:34

Niamh for me

CandyS · 09/06/2011 00:58

Maeve, too many babies called Sophia atm.

brightcopperkettles · 09/06/2011 02:40

I love Thea, it's gorgeous. I would pronounce Thee-ah.

CheerfulYank · 09/06/2011 02:50

I know a few Theas and it's pronounced THAY-ah/uh. It's a strong TH sound in the beginning like in monTH, not like THey. :)

Sophia is popular but very pretty.

Sophia, then Niamh.

hellokitty123 · 09/06/2011 09:22

Sophia is too common imo, Maeve I don't like the sound of, Niamh is ok but my preference is for Thea. I love Theodora, nickname Thea.

typsical · 09/06/2011 10:19

Thank you all.
Yes, we'd pronounce it Thee-ah. I really like the meaning as well lockets, and it's nice to hear that your DD likes her name!
Not really too bothered about the popularity of Sophia (DS is Oliver!) ....although suppose I do like the idea of something a little more unusual for our next one! (not pg yet btw, just like to be hopeful and prepared!)
DH has just added Evelyn to the list (pronounced Ev-uh-lyn, but with Eve -not Evie- has a nn)....? Any thoughts on that one? (Making the most of DH's naming co-operation!!)

I love the name Thea but my DH family is from Yorkshire and this is how they say over "there" "Thea", so i had to rule it out Sad

Evelyn is on our list too Grin

typsical · 09/06/2011 10:38

Oh shame about Thea LBB. How would you pronounce Evelyn out of interest?

I prefer Sophia

fairieswearboots · 09/06/2011 21:31

Love Maeve . Thea too.Bored with Sophia and Niamh but both nice names. Not so keen on Evelyn but it's not terrible.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 09/06/2011 21:32

Maeve

emmyloo2 · 10/06/2011 03:41

Maeve or Thea. Both are gorgeous. Not Sofia, please. There are sooooo many out there.

Maeve and Thea are much more unusual and work for a little girl and an adult.

emmyloo2 · 10/06/2011 03:46

Oooh just saw your son is Oliver. That is one of my favourite boy's names. Pity it is so popular but I just love it. It's on my list should I have DS2.
