Jules . . .girl or boy?

Which sex would you think a child with this name was? DH wants it if it's a boy, I think it sounds too much like a girls name (shortened version of Julie/Julia/Juliette).

What do you think?

Boy.

It could be either though tbh, but boy with that spelling.

I get called Jules all the time as my name is Julie. But I like it for a boy - it's punchy and direct (and a wee bit posh).

5DollarShake · 03/06/2011 02:13

My first thought was boy, but I guess either. I like it for a boy.

Popbiscuit · 03/06/2011 02:29

Love it! Not particularly androgynous...more enigmatic.

knackered76 · 03/06/2011 07:40

You might just be swaying me!

I know a female Jules who is beyond lovely and a male Jules who is a total wanker.

So I would hope it was a girl Grin

As a full name, I'd say boy, but I wouldn't judge if it was just a nn.
My SIL Julie is mostly known as Jules.

ThierryHenryismyBoyfriend · 03/06/2011 20:16

I'm a Julie but also known as Jules most of the time.

RubyFakeNails · 04/06/2011 10:55

I would think of a girl, although I wouldn't be surprised to meet a boy with this name but it does make me think of a greasy kind of man wearing fake jewellery maybe its the eastenders character or someone I used to know.

Nickname for Julian.

But lots of nicknames are unisex - Sam, Charlie, Alex etc.

I would assume boy, as a nn for Julius or Julian. I love it so much - I wish dh did too!
None of the Julie/Julias I have ever known have gone by Jules.
