Apparently means 'blessing' in arabic and thinking of using as middle name.

thanks

Neev Smile

Cattleprod · 02/06/2011 09:58

I haven't heard the name but I would guess Nee-Mah.

Niamh is pronounced Neev.

slowshow · 02/06/2011 10:02

I know a male Nimah and it is indeed Nee-mah.

tomhardyismydh · 02/06/2011 10:07

neev

daisybear · 02/06/2011 11:14

thanks for replies

Please note its Nimah not Niamh (pronounced neev).

i too got confused and almost used Nimah pronounced Neev but i'm now assuming this would be wrong......

I liked the meaning 'blessing' for a long awaited IVF baby girl but don't want to use unless i know the correct pronunciation Smile

I would assume (as I did on seeing the thread title) that the victim's someone's parents couldn't spell Niamh.

EricNorthmansMistress · 02/06/2011 22:50

Are you sure it's not Naima?

EdithWeston · 02/06/2011 22:55

There are three related names: Nimah, Naima and Nimat.

isn't that a boy's name anyway? Nimah not Niamh

daisybear · 03/06/2011 08:44

thanks for the reply's.

i actually got the name nimah from a thread on here and i can't do links but i looked it up and it is a girls arabic name.

just wondered how people would pronounce it and if they'd mistake it for niamh.... and it seems they would!!

back to the drawing board..... i like beatrice meaning 'bringer of joy' but i've not persuaded DH yet. i just thought it would be nice to have a middle name with some meaning behind it.

I would say neemah

Moreteaandchocolate · 27/06/2024 16:26

I think it’s lovely as a middle name - I would say Neemah

KirstenBlest · 27/06/2024 16:34

The question is more how to spell it. The transliteration is nearer Neema.
