What does everyone think of the name Sian?
I want a name that's pretty and girly that an adult wouldn't feel embarrassed about being called.
DH loves it, but I'm not convinced...

The Siana I know is 54 and her name has been fine her whole life. Anything can be a name but it is best to steer away from the ridiculous ones like Lambrini Bianca or Beckham Diesel.
:)

I know a Sian and a Shan (both pronounced Sharn) and while I think it's a lovely name, they both get tired of spelling it & explaining how it's pronounced despite both being very patient people (in fact I recently heard a mutual friend ask "Is it Sharn or Shan, I can never be sure" and Shan replied rather tersely "That's okay, you've only known me for four years. It's SHARN."

Let's not be arseholes about this.

The only pronunciation of SIAN is "SHARN"

Anything else is...wank.

I know people who have spent their lives correcting their name - from Sharon/Shane/ SHIVORRRRNE

I have spent my life saying "No, not sharon, no, not Shane, not Sean...my name is SIAN"

I'm proud of it. It is a beautiful name.
