Lumiere for a boy and Romantica for a girl

I really like this name for a boy. I like unusual names. It's the name of the candle in Beauty & the Beast and I think it sounds so lovely.

Romantica is such a, well, romantic girls name I think. I wonder if it is a real girls name in Italy or somewhere?

No, just no.

mamsnet · 30/05/2011 14:16

Go on then.. throw another one at us!

Deaddei · 30/05/2011 14:16

Are you on drugs?

ManicAnnie · 30/05/2011 14:16

PMSL

Romantica sounds like a bargain basement Walls ice cream.

Lumiere is a Chanel foundation in my world.

Romantica reminds me of 'erotica' and I can't say I'd name my child this.
I quite like Lumiere.

BooBooGlass · 30/05/2011 14:17

Lumiere is a candlestick. Anyone named Romantica is guaranteed to go the big and ugly route. You may want to consider having children if you can't give them decent names or get over your Disney fetish

Collision · 30/05/2011 14:18

No on sooooooooooooooo many levels.

Loomy for short? Really?

Would you want to be called Romantica? I certainly can not think of a single time in my life when I would have wanted that to be my name.

And Lumiere sounds like a gay French something. Nothing wrong with being gay or French but really............

Carrotsandcelery · 30/05/2011 14:19

Where do you live? Your dcs would be eaten alive with names like those around here. Maybe where you live they would be quite the norm. My dcs have unusual names but not names that might cause them grief through life.

They are beautiful, romantic sounding names but they would be very hard to live with.

Would you use nick names in general? Romy for a girl is lovely for example.

ajandjjmum · 30/05/2011 14:22

Are you Victoria Beckham? Grin

littleoscarsmama · 30/05/2011 14:22

I thought of Lumiere-Maison for my boys second name. It has a certain ring to it and Romantica-Belle-Eugeniyah for a girl.

UrsulaBuffay · 30/05/2011 14:25

KaraStarbuckThrace · 30/05/2011 14:25

This has GOT to be a wind up.

Or you don't care that your child will be bullied at school.

littleoscarsmama · 30/05/2011 14:26

At least Ursula has got taste.

ManicAnnie · 30/05/2011 14:26

lolllllll

OK, hands up, you got me the first time. But now I know you must be on a wind up.

Maison isn't a name.

Eugeniyah? In the words of Chris Rock 'The Ghetto called and it wants its name back!'

fairydoll · 30/05/2011 14:27

Romantica sounds like they are 'made for luuurrve' .Do you aspitre to her being a porn star!!
Imagine being a judge with a name like that!!
Lumiere a bit better.Still very very pretentious though.

UrsulaBuffay · 30/05/2011 14:27

I think they are unique.

How's about Uniquah?

LOL see it's a wind up! I just hope you haven't given anyone else ideas!

littleoscarsmama · 30/05/2011 14:28

You're being so unkind. I thought Eugeniyah is a bit posh, not ghetto.

OP posts:
K999 · 30/05/2011 14:29

Unkind? If you name your kid that they will probably have unkind remarks made to them all their lives!!

littleoscarsmama · 30/05/2011 14:30

OMG, I love your name, fairydoll. Imagine my little princess called Fairydoll-Glitter. It's the one, I can tell.

UrsulaBuffay · 30/05/2011 14:33

How about Mary-Doll? It's more biblical.

Thornykate · 30/05/2011 14:34

Lumiere make kitchen glassware similar to Pyrex don't they? And I think it's the candlesticks name in disneys beauty & the beast.

But there's always a reason not to choose any name so go with what you think suits your LO best :)
