Hi currently 35+2 and don't know what we are having, Georgia is my fav on our girls list (still working on my DH as we're Irish and its to way out for him), but i'm wondering is Georgia Mae too much as Mick Jagger's daughter has the same name although I think this is her full name, Mae would be our LO's second name and wouldn't be double barreled.

I really like Mae as my second name is Mary, my mums name is Mary and both my Gran's are Mary's and Mae/May is a short and more current version of Mary.

Is it too try hard to have the same name as celeb???

I wanted the Mary to honour my mum and grans only with a modern twist, but Kay is also nice, would have never though of it.

Still hoping I can convince my DH of Georgia though, but if I can't at least May would go with most first names.

My niece is called Georgia Mae. I wouldnt associate it with chav as i know an elderly lady called Mae so have only ever associated it with her and she was lovely. Its a lovely name and really suits my niece.

Maybe have Georgia Maeve if your not keen on Mae?

my sis is called Maeve- we're the typical Irish family!!

Jagger's daughter is Georgia May Ayeesha Jagger, I rather like the monika Georgia MaySmile ...but not the spelling Mae, have you thought of using Mai perhaps?

What about Maria/Marie or Miriam if you want to use a different form of Mary? Otherwise if you don't really like Mary I'd choose something else (I was going to say your dd might like having her grandmother and great grandmothers name, but as you didn't that might not be the case!).

Georgia Marianne
Georgina Mary
Georgia Maeve sounds nice (though I don't really like Georgia)

nooka · 31/05/2011 07:01

I'd forgotten Marianne. Lovely name :)

OsbegaEthelwulf · 31/05/2011 07:08

reenzeen · 31/05/2011 19:29

My daughter is Georgia Mae. She is a teenager now so named before -Mae became really popular.

I have to say that this doesn't bother me though. It is a lovely sounding name and spelled that way for a specific reason. If you and your dh like it, what do other people's opinion matter?

MelinaM · 31/05/2011 21:53

Mai is the Chinese form of MaySmile

Runoutofideas · 01/06/2011 08:08

Mai is also the welsh version. I have a Georgia Mai (Mai named after her Welsh grandmother). Initially some people assumed it was hyphenated but I was quick to correct them!
