So we have our final names (the only ones we both like) I'm totally uninspired by boy's names and hubby doesn't like anything a bit different. Which names do you think work best with our surname McNeil and our daughters name Evie. Any suggestions for other names welcome thanks

Sophia and Samuel

Grace is an awful burden if the child turns out not be graceful. And I am biased with Samuel. But there are a HUGE amount of Olivers about. Which up may take as good taste, or you may choose to run away from in an MN quest not to have a common name.

Other suggestions erm, Alistair, Alice

Love Sophia and Grace, but they are both very popular at the moment, of the two I prefer SophiaSmile

Oliver, Samuel is almost always shortened to 'Sam' or 'Sammy' which are both hideous ...and I feel more akin to a canine than a childSmile

Sophia and Grace are both lovely :) Slightly prefer Grace, and Grace McNeil flows very nicely.

Samuel and Oliver both very nice too. I think Oliver McNeil sound very good. Samuel McNeil is a bit heavy on the M/N/L sounds.

I like Grace and Oliver, nice names.

hulabula · 22/05/2011 22:27

Very very popular already used by lots and lots of children, but if that doesn't bother you, then I think Sophia and Oliver go best with your surname.

Grace all the way but it's my mum's name so I am slightly biased. For the record she is not graceful at all and I had never made that connection. It also goes better with your surname as Sophia Mac... is too stop start in the middle.

The boys names I like equally - possibly Oliver slightly more but nn Sam is always a winner.

I'd choose Sophia and Oliver.

All very popular round here. I'd probably choose Sophia and Samuel if I had to.

SkyNewsAddict · 23/05/2011 16:18

Grace is so, so popular that I'd go for Sophia. Think I prefer Samuel, again, I know so many Olivers that Samuel seems more original.

All lovely names though so you can't go far wrong!

Love both Sophia and Grace, but think Grace McNeil flows slightly better.
Prefer Oliver McNeil - Samuel McNeil as too many M/L sounds. All are nice classic names though.
