Hi everyone,

A friend of mine has asked my advice on a "proper" name to give the nickname either Lola or Lulu. My mind is completly blank and the moment so I wondered if you lovely people could give me some ideas to pass along? She is expecting a little girl at the end of June :)

Lucy or Lucinda for Lulu are quite well known.

I think Lola might be a nickname for Charlotte, Lolita, Penelope, anything with LO in it somewhere. Even Lourdes perhaps.

Louise/Louisa.

I could be wrong here and please correct me if I am, but isn't Lola a name in its own right? Lulu I'm not sure about - Louise/Lucy?

The word lulu is actually Glaswegian meaning 'unpredictable' - "she's a real lulu of a girl". Smile

Dolores (via Lolita) gives Lola.

Tallulah could give Lulu, as would Louise, Louisa and perhaps Laura.

Well my DD's nickname is Lulu and her name is Alice!

Her best friend's nickname is also Lulu and her real name is Megan.
