I know a lady who's an Elsie Winifred...don't use this! She puts up with 'Elsie' which she's never liked ('its a housemaids name') because the alternative is worse. She'll be astounded by the current resurgence of the name!

Can Elsie be a nickname for Elizabeth? It will give your daughter options, if she decides she doesnt like the name when she is older. Elsie is a name that is not too everyones tastes.

Sorry, I know I shouldnt say this on your chosen name, but I really dont like the name Elsie. How about Elise (same letters) or Eliza.

My gran (93) is Elsie May, and like grimma's friend hates both and forbade us using either for dd, which is a shame as I think both are nice
