Which middle names for our 1st names choices

I have 10 weeks of pregnancy left until our long awaited baby girl. We have 2 names we love - Laila and Eliza (i think we're steering towards laila though) We have come up with some middle names (all have a meaning to us in some way) and i'd like opinions on what sounds the nicest please....

Our surname has been a tricky one to work with. It ryhmes with dollar but starts with a W.....

So we have:

Laila Hope
Laila Iris (worried the end s might clash with the W in our surname...iyswim)
Laila Arabelle
Laila Arabella Grace
Laila Ishbel
Laila Belle
Laila Amara
or Laila Amara Grace
Laila Amara Hope

Eliza Hope
Eliza Iris
Eliza Florence
Eliza Harriet

Any middle name suggestions welcome

Thank you

I don't think Iris flows very well after either name - too many vowels. Same with Arabelle/a, Amara and Ishbel. So I would go with:

Laila Hope
Eliza Hope
Eliza Florence
or Eliza Harriet

I know you didn't ask about this but I definitely prefer Eliza with your surname. Think Laila has too many Ls and would be a bit of a mouthful when said with the surname. Beautiful name though.

thanks cherrydrops

Its a hard choice because I think we are preferring Laila as a name but Eliza does sound better with our surname so i see what u mean.

I probably should have added that DH really loves Sadie too (i like it but not as much as Laila or Eliza).....

Laila Hope
Eliza Florence

MackerelOfFact · 09/05/2011 15:15

Completely agree with everything CherryDrops says... those would be my choices too, and Eliza sounds much better than Laila with your surname, due to all the 'L's.

telsa · 09/05/2011 15:23

Eliza Hope or Laila Hope most definitely - Eliza Florence my next favourite. Iris really doesn't workjk with either - Eliza Iris W is rather hard to say

MercurySoccer · 09/05/2011 16:30

I prefer Eliza with your surname too. Sadie also goes well with your surname (how about Sarah with Sadie as nickname?)

Out of your options with Laila as first name, I like Laila Hope best.

And changing the names around slightly, how about Laila Grace Arabella, Laila Grace Amara or Laila Hope Amara?

Eliza Hope, Eliza Florence and Eliza Harriet are all lovely names.

Sadie/Sarah Florence or Sadie/Sarah Harriet would also be nice.

daisybear · 09/05/2011 21:58

thanks peeps

mercurysoccer- if i changed the names round with to laila grace arabella, laila grace amara or laila hope amara i thought the 'A' ending names been just before our surname might have too many 'A' sounds....i could be wrong though so opinions appreciated.

keep the opinions coming, the more help i get for my princesses name the better.

Thanks again

Love Ishbel but don't like Laila. Love Harriet.

So I would go for Harriet Eliza or Harriet Ishbel or Ishbel Harriet and am therefore no help at all to you!

mich54321 · 09/05/2011 22:45

I would go for Eliza Grace - timeless, easy to spell and goes well with your surname.

mathanxiety · 09/05/2011 22:53

'Dollar' doesn't really have an A sound in it.

I like Hope and Ishbel with Laila and Grace with Eliza.

daisybear · 10/05/2011 09:39

mathanxiety our surname is w a l l e r but gets pronounced as woller by most people..... its a hard surname to work with however we pronounce it though as i seem to like 'A' and 'la' ending names.

my most favourite name was Arabella but i don't think it sounded right with surname so we had to scrap it as a first name Sad

btw.... i LOVE harriet too but hubby doesn't like it as first name so it has to stay as second name.

thanks for your opinions its really helping.......

Eliza Florence or Eliza Harriet

LittleWhiteWolf · 10/05/2011 10:25

I agree with your DH about Sadie. Thats our current favourite girls name so I'm biased!

Of the options I'd pick Eliza Florance.

mathanxiety · 10/05/2011 14:54

I think you should avoid too many L sounds crowded together -- the A sound isn't the issue.
