If I like the name Olive what else might I like?

Love this name - slightly quirky but it has the old school vibe about it. Similar to Olivia but way less popular and I think its prettier. I know lots of people are put off by Olive Oyl or nasty tasting olives or nasty olive colour BUT if you do like Olive what else do you like? What do you think is in a similar style?

Oh how could you? We of a certain age will forever be reminded of Olive from 'On the buses'. Not a good look.

Thank u for the ideas. I like Mabel, Martha, Hazel, Nell and Tess. Don't like Edith but do like Edie. Our surname starts with M so not sure if M names sound a bit twee.
Any more suggestions?

I love Olive, and also love the name Maude (or Maud)

DH couldn't be persuaded on either!

missmyoldname · 06/05/2011 18:16

LOVE Penelope, Pearl and Iris.
Also how about Ivy or Ada?

puddle2 · 06/05/2011 18:20

Like Ivy and Ada.
Ooo Enid. That's different. Enid. Hmmm Enid. Cute. Similar feel to Olive.
(I'm sat here saying it out loud!)

Enid always reminds me of how I thought Enid blyton's name was Eeny Blyton (as in Eeny Meeny Miney Mo) as a child Grin.

My dog's called Olive, just because I loved it so much and thought I wouldn't have kids! Bit fed up now that I can't use it on a proper human.

I knew a very old Olive when I was little - her equally ancient sister was called Natty. Thought that was lovely.

^I knew lovely lady named Olive too, her sister was OlwynSmile

Olive and Tomato, Cucumber Grin.

Sorry, but I really dislike Olive (and cannot dis-associate from a greasy black olive).
