What do you think of Raife as a boy's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

I really love this name and spelling. My cousin is going for it as her partner is Turkish and doesnt like the Raif spelling, and equally they wont go for the irish Rafe.

Ralph (english version) is too weird. Thoughts?

I'm sorry but no. Not for me. Raife is unbareably snobby, drinks nothing but champagne, eats nothing but caviar & foie gras and spends most of his time playing polo and belittling servants/peasants Blush. Just my opinion though, obviously. Sorry!

What emmanumber3 said, sorry!

I love the sound of it! Really can't decide on which spelling I prefer though!!! Are they all genuine spellings?

doozle · 05/05/2011 22:56

It does sound extremely posh.

spidookly · 05/05/2011 22:58

I quite like Ralph

But not Raife really.

Rafe is Irish?! Confused

DooinMeCleanin · 05/05/2011 22:58

I like it.

geraldinetheluckygoat · 05/05/2011 22:58

does sound a bit wanky. sorry.

thefruitwhisperer · 05/05/2011 22:59

Yeah, its one of those names that seems to appear in most languages. Theres a german version too.

Aw, really. We really liked it because of the actor, Ralph Fiennes. Thought the spelling might cancel out the 'toff'ness of the name too.

if you spell it the english way he will be called Ral-ph-with an L.

I know a raife and he is quite nice, but a bit posh and snobby.

MelinaM · 06/05/2011 08:41

Love Rafe, but the Raife spelling does look wrong!

Jonnyfan · 06/05/2011 21:25

Pretentious.

tammytoby · 06/05/2011 21:53

The German version would be Ralf. I like Ralph and Ralf but am less keen on Rafe/Raife.

yousankmybattleship · 06/05/2011 21:58

Sorry, no! It's far too Pimms and punting.

naturalbaby · 06/05/2011 21:58

Don't like it - images of uber poshness. Ralph is more down to earth for me and I do love love love Ralph Fiennes.

baskingseals · 06/05/2011 22:42

trying so hard you're falling over
