Does anyone know? If so, how?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think you might be able to up to 12 months after the birth - really not sure of this though.

Surely you can call them what you want at anytime...? Maybe change the paperwork officially when it becomes an issue like passport application etc

I also think legally you can up to 12m, but you could call the town hall to check

Can I hijack to ask a supplementary question? If I want to lose one of my children's middle names, including on her passport, what is the procedure? Do I have to do a proper legal name change, or can I just notify the passport office when I get her new passport that I don't want to use that middle name any more?

I think you have to do it by deed poll, OP.

in the first 12 months its relatively easy and you get a new birth certificate IIRC
but after the 12 months its deed poll im afraid.

I did this when dd was 5 months. Before 12 months it is quite easy, fill out a form from registry office and you are issued with a new certificate which shows original name and records the change (box 17).

I didn't think I'd get as many comments from strangers as I do, changing at doctors office, HV, getting passport, people think it's very strange . My family were all fine with the change though! I think once we get her passport things should be easier, atm people don't check the changed name box unless I tell them to!

I'm still happy I changed it though!
