Felix (cat food? or cool?)
Alexander (classic, mouthful, too popular?)
Leander (different, bit girly, or just right?)
Dashiell (pretentious?)
Orlando (pretentious?)

Just trying to find a name that's a bit different, but not too different!

Alexander is the only one I like. (Isn't Leander the brand name of the House of Fraser?)

Bubbaluv · 05/05/2011 05:38

Felix - the Cat but not bad really.
Alexander - lovely and a bounty of nice nns
Leander - V girly
Dashiell - sounds like a rapper. Would wear a lot of gold chains and have a ruby in his tooth.
Orlando - Florida. Used to be nice but ruined by too many try hard cleb types naming their children after their place of conception.

qwerty123 · 05/05/2011 07:09

Felix is a fantastic name.

Secretwishescometrue · 05/05/2011 07:19

Alexander is my favourite of the list. How bout Nathanial, Sebastian or Marcus?

yama · 05/05/2011 07:34

Alexander the best name. What about Xander as nn?

Quite like Dashiell.

Not keen on the others.

Emelene · 05/05/2011 08:48

I like Alexander best. :)

NorkilyChallenged · 05/05/2011 08:57

May I suggest... Wyatt (I'm going to be suggesting it on all boy threads til someone uses it as it's cool, unusual and lovely and totally and utterly VETOED by DH Sad)

tammytoby · 05/05/2011 09:24

I love Dashiell - classic, easy to spell/pronounce but not as overused as some others.

pilates · 05/05/2011 09:55

Def Alexander, don't like the rest.

argylesocks · 05/05/2011 10:56

I love Alexander even though I usually dont like traditional boys names. I also think Orlando is a great name. Considered it for a middle name if this one's a boy but my parents used to live there so it would be weird. Great name though. Felix is OK.

rachel1970 · 05/05/2011 12:18

Alexanader is nice but there are so many Alex's around, which it will probably get shortened to - a little dull perhaps. Dashiell is lovely and not as widely used already. I also quite like Orlando - quite cool.
Leander is quite popular in Germany, I don't think it is girly at all.
Felix a little too cartoony perhaps.

babyincubator · 05/05/2011 14:40

I LOVE ALEXANDER - and really regret using it as a middle name for ds. It can become so many great names - Xander, Xan, Sandy, Alex, Ali, Lysander... Go for it.

WiiUnfit · 05/05/2011 14:51

Felix (cat food? or cool?) - Yes, cat food!
Alexander (classic, mouthful, too popular?) - Lovely name, as is Xander, Alex .etc, popular but classic
Leander (different, bit girly, or just right?) - Reminds me of Jordan's new fling, whatever his name is?
Dashiell (pretentious?) - Not too keen
Orlando (pretentious?) - Nice but people would assume you named him after Mr Bloom?
