Stella - I don't know any and it's a 'strong' name I think?
Violet
Eleanor - but HATE Ellie
Isobel(la)
Lily

Thomas - Thom
Samuel - Sam
Joe - Joseph or Joel
Isaac

Surname begins with a G so need to be careful with middles but suggestions welcome!

Stella will always be a strong lager for me, which is annoying as it's a lovely name.
Violet I love
Eleanor will be called Ellie at some point, you won't be able to control that I'm afraid
Isobel(la) and Lily are pretty but very very popular.

Thomas- Good solid name, but again there are a lot of Little Toms
Sam is great, as is Joe (Joseph far nicer than JOel imo)
Isaac also lovely, but perhaps a bit fashionable and will date..?

Congrats by the way... :)

ellangirl · 03/05/2011 17:56

Eleanor will be called ellie whether you like it or not! Love Stella, the others are quite popular but obviously that's your call.
I like Joel, I havent met any, and Joe is nice too.

Good luck with the birth- enjoy these last few days!!

Thomas for a boy and love all your girl names, except Stella.

SarahJinx · 03/05/2011 18:05

TMMJ Ha!!! Quick as a flash!

I lean towards Stella but worry about the beer thing, and if it's faddy and as for boys am happy with them all, we'll see what he looks like!

Thanks for comments and for congrats, at some point hopefully I'll pop out a baby to name!

I am in agreement with the Stella sounding like beer to me.
I love Violet but then I am biased as that is my dd's name
Lily is very popular at both my ds1's school and dd's preschool
Eleanor will more than likely get Ellie at school and not much you can do about it, my ds1 insists on calling his sister Vi much to my dismay!
Isobel is pretty but I imagine there are a fair few baby Bella's around too thanks to Twilight and Holly Willoughby

Boys names are hard
I do like Thom and Sam but not keen on Isaac, Joe is very popular in our area too. I prefer Joel to Joseph makes it a bit more individual than other Joes

good luck!

SarahJinx · 03/05/2011 18:10

I love Vi! I imagine a little girl with bunches and a pout!

Stella makes me think of Paul McCartney, not beer.

SoFluffyImGonnaDie · 03/05/2011 18:12

Pretty much that's what I have to be honest. Lots of people hated it when I announced her name but it really suits her now and I have never meant another Violet local to us so I am glad I stuck with it now

SarahJinx · 03/05/2011 18:14

Well I love it, can I ask middle name? I just hate girly squirly names - Lily is my one concession.

OP posts:
SoFluffyImGonnaDie · 03/05/2011 18:17

Her middle name doesn't really match her first name it's Lesley after my mum and dh's grandad and also dh's middle name. I did want Jade for a middle name originally, clearly I was obsessed with colours during this pregnancy! There was one other Violet registered in the year she was born the registrar told us her middle name was Grace

MelinaM · 03/05/2011 19:16

Stella McCartney for me too, it's a nice enough name but a little 'chavvy' in parts ...don't shout at me!!!

Love Eleanor, but do agree that the nn Ellie is horrid!!! A friend of mine is Eleanor (27) and always has been Eleanor, her mother simply wouldn't tolerate Ellie or Ell! If you love it stand firm and use EleanorSmile

Isobel and Lily are lovely names, but very, very common at the mo, so I'd avoid.

Love Violet.

Thomas and Isacc are my favourites from your boys list, Sam and Joe belong to our canine friends!

SarahJinx · 03/05/2011 19:21

Ha, thanks - I'm also with you on the possible chav element to Stella - these are the things I've worried about, so no shouting!

Like isobel and the boys names.

cece · 03/05/2011 19:36

Stella - Artois
Violet - a bit old lady
Eleanor - you will have trouble stopping people calling her Ellie
Isobel(la)- love the spelling Isobel
Lily - pretty but quite popular

Thomas - prefer the spelling Tom (which I love Wink)
Samuel - Sam - very nice
Joe - Joseph or Joel - like Joe
Isaac - not so keen on this one as your other boys names

loobylu3 · 03/05/2011 19:38

Stella - I like it
Violet- v sweet but I can't help noticing the similarity to 'violent' I'm afraid.
Eleanor - but HATE Ellie- love Eleanor, hate Ellie but Nell or Nora could be alternatives.
Isobel(la)- love Isobel/ Isabel
Lily- pretty

Thomas - Thom- lovely classic name
Samuel - Sam- nice
Joe - Joseph or Joel- I would use Joseph which is lovely
Isaac- okay

If popularity doesn't bother you, I would use Eleanor or Isobel and Thomas or Joseph.

tummytickler · 03/05/2011 19:41

I like Violet and Samuel. Isaac is nice too.

SarahJinx · 03/05/2011 20:45

ooh see now Nell would swing it for me, I love Nell - don't care a bugger about popular really just like what we like!

Thanks loads for feedback, managed to kill a few more hours in the godforsaken waiting game

LOVE Stella. Much nicer than any of your other choices.

Your boys names are all very nice (I particularly like Samuel). Very popular names though, if that bothers you?

Love Nell as a NN for Eleanor, so that would be my choice. Violet is also nice. Isobel rather than Isabella for me, Lily a bit meh to my ear, and I always think a Lily has to be a delicate pretty child :). Stella I want to like, but beer and McCartney do put me off a bit sadly.

Joseph is a great name IMO. All your boys names are good actually.

Good luck.

dapperflapper · 13/05/2011 21:42

Violet - I have one aged nearly 5- really so glad we chose it as she's the only one we know.

Isaac for boy.

MelinaM · 13/05/2011 22:21

Nell is quite simply beautifulSmile
