what do you all think about Da?ka as a girls name. I believe it is a nickname for Dagmar which is an old Norse name

Pronounced Das-ka? Sounds lovely.

Quite nice

I like it.

Not my glass of champers but nice enough!

I have a very dear friend who is Da?a (short for Dagmar) - think it's lovely :) very popular in the Czech Republic. And how did you get the hacek onto the s? I just copied and pasted yours, but as DS has Ale? as one of his names, I should learn how to type it!! :)

I'd pronounce ? as "sh", making the name "dash-ka".

Is there a definitive way to say the name?

KvetaBarry · 30/04/2011 21:33

as you say meditrina - the ? is pronounced 'sh'. sometimes the a can be lengthened, but dashka can be pronounced either way
(in czech anyway :o)

nickelbabe · 03/05/2011 11:24

glad someone's clarified that - when I saw the name I thought Dashka initially.

meditrina · 03/05/2011 11:58

I like it, but suspect you'd have to explain the pronunciation frequently. Would that bother you?

TBH, it sounds like one of Father Christmas' reindeers.
