We already have a William (6), Cecelia (3) and an Isobel (18 months)...dh not too sure as he used to live on an Adelaide avenue!

I like it!

It's been mentioned a few times on the WilliKat names thread.

HowsTheSerenity · 28/04/2011 22:40

It is a lovely name and would love to name my potential daughter that but given that I live in Australia and it is the name of a capital city I won't be able to.

LionsnTigersnBears · 28/04/2011 22:44

Adele is lovely but I'm not keen on Adelaide

OkeeDoeKee · 28/04/2011 22:51

It was my Grannie's name and she absolutely hated it (she died 25 years ago aged 95 so you can see she was named at the end of the 19th century when it may have been a bit more common!).

She was lovely and I've always liked it as a name although I've never known a another real life Adelaide.

MayBankHoliday · 28/04/2011 22:58

Agree with Lions that Adele is nice. Adelaide reminds me of Neighbours.

ninamag · 28/04/2011 23:18

Adelina is my Spanish grandma's name.

nothingnatural · 28/04/2011 23:46

Ha, I live in Adelaide, so it'd be a nope from me.

Also I think Adele is naff.

Your other children's names are lovely, partic Cecelia which I adore.

I really like it. I'd be more inclined to use it as a middle name, but it's pretty.
I think Adele would be better as a first name.

But there are millions of Adele's out there; go on, be different!! ;)
Unless you're Australian.

squeak2392 · 29/04/2011 14:25

Misread your original post.

As long as you don't live there now it's fine. I know a Thomas who lives on Thomas Street.

theagedparent · 29/04/2011 15:56

I think it is lovely

kiwidreamer · 29/04/2011 18:27

I have friends who have named their LO Adelaide Frances Lastname, Addie for NN, she is a gorgeous 8mth old, its a nice name :)

ComeAlongPond · 29/04/2011 18:35

I think it's a lovely name, as are your other DC's.

Maud2011 · 29/04/2011 21:04

Much as I love Adelaide from the Sally Lockhart books I don't think it's a very pretty name. "laide" is French for "ugly" and I can never quite forget that when I see the name Adelaide, or that it begins with something that sounds like "addled".

BuntyPenfold · 30/04/2011 00:29

I have just chosen that name for a hen, sorry :)

EauRouge · 30/04/2011 09:21

My DD2 is called Adelaide so obviously I think it's a wonderful name, for a child or a hen Grin

TreacleChops · 30/04/2011 12:49

Adelaide was my "French Name" in school..... i always liked being a "Adeaide" for the hour every French lesson lol x

pinguwings · 30/04/2011 15:25

Beautiful, classy name. Works well with your other children too.

PheasantPlucker · 30/04/2011 15:27

I love the name Adelaide.
I truly hate the name Adele though!

aliveandkickingme · 30/04/2011 18:40

I love Adelaide and think it would work v well with your children's names

MayBankHoliday · 30/04/2011 22:22

Adelina is nice. Adelaide sounds a bit like a fizzy drink.

Chocolocolate · 30/04/2011 23:02

It's OK, but I prefer Adeline.

MelinaM · 30/04/2011 23:57

Hmm, not keen at all I'm afraid!

nooka · 01/05/2011 02:31
