Boy and girl names to go with Florence and Esther

After our twin girls were born last May, we were (pleasantly) surprised to find out that we are due another set of twins in July! Argh! We have been told that one is a boy and the other is a girl, but again, choosing names is proving tricky! We usually like traditional names but we'd probably be open to some new suggestions - for example, my OH is loves mythology etc so some of our names are influenced by this. Our two little girls are called Florence Elizabeth and Esther Beatrice.

Here are some of the names we like so far:

Boys - Edward/Edmund, Henry, Benedict, George, William, Thomas, Oliver, Aiden/Aidan, Daniel, Arthur

Girls - Agnes, Edith, Juno, Quinn, Georgiana (obviously not with George!), Ismene, Helena, Freja, Ada, Leonie

If you find some good name combinations out of these lists that'd be great, and feel free to add any names you think we'd like! :)

Thanks!

I like Benedict best out of your boys names. How about Theo?

Girls names out your list that I like are Edith and Leonie, Edith being my favourite. I think Quinn is a boy's name (no idea if thats right or not but sounds like one Quinn/Finn). How's Ismene pronounced? Is it like Esme?

VivaLeBeaver · 27/04/2011 17:35

And blimey you're going to be busy - 4 under 18 months! Shock

Hedwig3 · 27/04/2011 17:47

Congratulations!

George and Agnes would be really lovely Smile

pilates · 27/04/2011 18:21

George and Helena

LynetteScavo · 27/04/2011 18:25

Edward and Edith.....although I love Juno.

sunshineandshowers · 27/04/2011 20:17

Edmund and Helena or Edmund and Ada. Lovely names. Good Luck x

eatyourveg · 27/04/2011 20:31

Edmund George and Helena Agnes although I think Agnes as a first name would suit your other dc names more

There is another thread with similar names, some offerings from there include Martha Grace and Alice

Thanks for the replies and the suggestions!

VivaLeBeaver - Yes, we are definitely going to have our hands full! But it is what we want and seeing as OH and I are both getting older, we feel it is our last chance and it's now or never! It'll be hard work but worth it :) We pronounce Ismene like Is - May - Nee.

We love Edmund at the moment. I don't think it is as common as Edward but IMO just as nice.

Girls names are still tricky. We do like Agnes as it isn't very popular but I'm just not sure what middle names would compliment the name. Obviously middle names aren't compulsory but it would be nice. Even more than one middle name would work if it was right (I have 3 middle names, OH has 2).

It's always so hard!!!

Love Edward, Edmund, Benedict, Georgiana, Helena

Florence, Esther, Benedict and Georgiana = lovely

randomimposter · 27/04/2011 20:53

How lovely.

Benedict is LOVELY as it means blessing - would pair with Helena from your names or Clara if I'm allowed to choose.

OR
Arthur and Iris.

Love Florence and Esther by the way, just not so keen on your girls list.

Good luck.

grubbalo · 27/04/2011 21:30

Oh I LOVE Arthur and Iris. Slightly biased here as I have an Arthur, but I really like most of your names (and think Florence and Esther are gorgeous too. Infact my Arthur would have been Florence had he been a girl).

The only one of your names I'm not as keen on is Aiden / Aidan - it just doesn't seem to fit in as well as the other names.. I realise it's an old Saints name but it never seems to sound like that to my ears (probably just me being weird)

Shambolicaholic · 27/04/2011 21:46

Benedict and Ismene. I absolutely adore Ismene - there need to be more of them in the world!

Italiangreyhound · 28/04/2011 00:26

Boys - Edward, Henry, Benedict and Daniel are my favourites

Girls - Leonie - lovely

Personally, with an E and F already I would go with Daniel and Leonie.

What is your secret, please? I've been trying to get pregnant again for ages! Maybe this is not the place, but feel free to PM me with any top tips!

All the best, hope your DH will be helpful when the big day arrives! Any beyond! I guess you have got a lot of the stuff so just need to get some boys clothes.

All the very best.

usedtobeahappycamper · 28/04/2011 12:18

I know an adult Ysmena (is may na) Is that how you pronounce Ismene? If so it is a fabulous name.

belgo · 28/04/2011 12:22

Theodore and Martha.

usedtobeahappycamper · 28/04/2011 12:22

Just found a site where the pronounciation is given as is-mee-nee. Maybe not then.

hatebeak · 28/04/2011 13:08

Ada and Henry are great. Helena is beautiful and underused too. How about Julia? Or Susannah?

telsa · 28/04/2011 14:07

I know an Esther with sisters Adelaide and Georgina. I think those go nicely. Or Agatha might be nice.

Boys - definitey Benedict. Or Daniel.

Clary · 28/04/2011 23:45

Loving your names. DS2 was going to be Florence Agnes, or maybe Agnes Florence.

Your girls list includes DD's name as well! Your boys list includes DS1 and DS2's middle name Smile along with lots of others I like!

I also like:
Mabel, Constance, Cecily, Agatha, Rosa
Alfred, Albert, Frederick, Stanley, Sidney

Good luck with all your twins! Do you really have just a 15mo gap or have I misread yr OP? (if not, arggghhh indeed!)

Clary · 28/04/2011 23:48

Sorry meant to pick my faves from your list.

Girl: Edith Agnes
Boy: Arthur George

Altho then you have two girls called Miss E Stargirl, so maybe Agnes Edith is better. Altho then you have two twins starting with A - arrrgh! George Arthur then? Do love Arthur tho.

cece · 28/04/2011 23:56

Florence and Esther

Helena and Edward

Although I do like George as well, but Edward has good nn possibilities... Or Tom, which does mean twin, so seems appropriate!

How about?

Esme
Verity
Una

or

Jim
Gregory
Samuel
