DH and I both have children from previous relationships. He has Alice (17) and I have Esther(12) and Martha(8).
We're now expecting a daughter together but can't decide on names!

Here's our shortlist:
Megan
Florence
Jasmine
Lois
Bethany
Olivia
Sophie/a

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BellBookandCandle · 27/04/2011 15:11

Megan - is ok
Florence - grrrrrrr! I think this is overused and `ugly' old fashioned
Jasmine - don't think it works as well as Megan or Lois with the other names
Lois - I like this, it's different
Bethany - sooooo 80's
Olivia - no, it's most definitely overused
Sophie/a - aqain a bit 80's to my ears

What about Iris, Rachel, Violet, Beatrice?

BarbieLovesKen · 27/04/2011 15:11

Megan - lovely. (but you will me told on here its too 90's Hmm)
Florence - lovely.
Jasmine - lovely
Lois - Dont like this at all.
Bethany - Dont like this at all - very, very different style of name compared to your children.
Olivia - gorgeous
Sophie/a - gorgeous just very, very, very popular at the minute.

I think Olivia fits best Smile

telsa · 27/04/2011 15:37

Florence fits the best with the others.

pilates · 27/04/2011 15:37

Olivia or Sophia

Ihavewelliesbuttheyrenotgreen · 27/04/2011 16:04

Megan - Not keen, a bit dated and doesn't go with your other names imo
Florence - Lovely but not sure if it goes with your other names, a bit more posh imo, tho your other names are lovely.
Jasmine - A bit unusual but nice
Lois - As above
Bethany - I actually think this goes quite well with your other names but may become a bit dated
Olivia - Too popular
Sophie/a - As above

I think my favourites are Bethany and Lois. Other suggestions

Hannah
Phoebe
Lydia
Naomi

mathanxiety · 27/04/2011 16:11

I think Sophia is lovely.

smother · 27/04/2011 17:19

You have very similar taste to me!!
I like Jasmine, Megan and Florence best out of your list.... but if you like Bethany, have you thought about Bethan? that would be perfect I think!
Also Rose/Rosie might be nice too.

WorzselMaamage · 27/04/2011 17:23

I like Jasmine the bestout of your list but I'm not overly keen on any of them really.

What about Cleo ?

Hatterbox · 27/04/2011 18:00

Florence and Sophia are the only ones that are in the same league as Alice, Esther and Martha.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 27/04/2011 18:07

Florence is the only one that lives up to the other three names, which are all gorgeous.

How about:

Alice, Esther, Martha and Naomi
Alice, Esther, Martha and Isolde
Alice, Esther, Martha and Catherine/Kitty
Alice, Esther, Martha and COnstance

birdofthenorth · 27/04/2011 19:01

Love Lois, different but pronounceable

birdofthenorth · 27/04/2011 19:02

Like your existing DDs' names btw

SilkStalkings · 27/04/2011 19:03

Lois and Florence from that list.
How about Nancy?

MayBankHoliday · 27/04/2011 19:04

Alice, Esther, Martha and...

Megan - very pretty, a little similar to Martha (both start with M and have 2 syllables)
Florence - lovely, goes well with the other names
Jasmine - very nice
Lois - OK
Bethany - like and goes well with the others
Olivia - not particularly keen
Sophie/a - like

How about Leah, Xanthe, Josephine, Louisa, Grace, Felicity, Georgina, Philippa/Pippa?

Clowance · 27/04/2011 19:09

I like Olivia and think it goes well, but it is a bit over used these days.

Also love Beth, but not keen on Bethany.

For some reason Ruth popped into my head when I read your other DDs names (which are all lovely by the way)

BigSooz · 27/04/2011 19:12

Megan

bluerodeo · 27/04/2011 19:14

Lois is a fab name

Greenwing · 27/04/2011 20:33

IMHO Megan, Jasmine and Bethany are nowhere near as 'classy' as the other girls' names.

Olivia and Florence match up but are very popular.

Just personal preference but I find Lois a very ugly sounding name. Also sounds too much like the very popular Lewis/Louis.

Sophia is best for me.

Mousesmummy · 28/04/2011 23:53

I have a Martha and an Esther! My dd3 is Bridget Cecelia
Other names I liked were Vivienne, Elizabeth, Nancy, Clodagh.
I honestly don't think any of your list 'go' iykwim? I would keep looking!
Good luck xx

Sinkingfeeling · 28/04/2011 23:58

How about Isabel or Anna or Louisa? I think your other dd's names are stunning (I have a Martha), but your shortlist don't quite match them (sorry).

cece · 29/04/2011 00:06

Loois - miles ahead of the others.

cece · 29/04/2011 00:06

Lois Blush
