Ted and Maud are my favourites with Pip and Meredith in 2nd place

BuntyPenfold · 26/04/2011 16:16

Please not Moss or Dusty, unless you are naming a dog.

Boo could be a cute nickname.

Folicacid · 26/04/2011 16:17

Ah Tessa from St Anne's?

Boys
Moss
Pip
Ted Ted is favourite out of those. Moss not keen on

Girls
Beau
Boo
Dusty
Greta
Maud
Meredith
Nell
Sybil

Girls names I don't like from your list are Boo, Greta, Sybil and Maud. Favourite from list would be Beau.

Collision · 26/04/2011 16:19

Boys
Moss - No.
Pip - No
Ted - OK and it does go with Arthur

Girls
Beau No
Boo no
Dusty really? Would you want to be called Dusty? Just no!
Greta Garbo. Again would you want to be called Greta
Maud - tis OK
Meredith - not keen but OK
Nell - by far the best! Arthur and Nell sound lovely!
Sybil Fawlty. Cannot imagine a baby, toddler, teen called Sybil and would not want to be called this myself!

belgo · 26/04/2011 16:19

Definitely not Moss, Boo or Dusty.

Ted and Maud are nice.

freckleye · 26/04/2011 16:36

Boy : Ted then Pip
Girl : Nell then Beau
Congratulations x

darleneconnor · 26/04/2011 16:52

Boys
Moss I like it. He might get teased though.
Pip not suitable for an adult, why not use it as a nn?
Ted a bit bear-like but ok if a little middle-aged baldie

Girls
Beau isn't this a boy's name
Boo only as a nn, please
Dusty too american
Greta good
Maud too boarding school
Meredith great
Nell no
Sybil ok but not v nice

Emelene · 26/04/2011 16:56

Ted and Nell are such gorgeous names! And they really go with Arthur.

I don't like Beau cos it means "handsome" in French, as in describing something male not female so that would totally irritate me. Belle is for a girl, and I think Beau might be a little tricky to spell.

pilates · 26/04/2011 17:19

Ted and Nell, not keen on others.

MardyBra · 26/04/2011 17:24

Boys
Moss - wtf. NOOOO
Pip - nice as a nn for Philip.
Ted - nice name.

Girls
Beau - redneck Southern US boys
Boo - you have to be joking
Dusty - as in Springfield I suppose. Sorry wierd. Why have a name which makes you think of housework.
Greta - lovely
Maud - not my favourite - really way too old ladyish, but if you must it's better than Beau and Boo
Meredith - lovely.

Nell - lovely.

Sybil - makes me think of <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=wpcontent.answcdn.com/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a6/Sybil_Fawlty.jpg/240px-Sybil_Fawlty.jpg&imgrefurl=www.answers.com/topic/fawlty-towers&h=197&w=240&sz=8&tbnid=xrHFNGXVSZsuyM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=110&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dsybil%2Bfawlty%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=sybil+fawlty&hl=en&usg=__cpbV_w8oqAtv14rP8ecbMU3WTdg=&sa=X&ei=P_G2TZvnD4au8QOXn7FC&ved=0CCwQ9QEwAQ" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">the hairdo

Sorry if I am being overly negative. You obviously have highly unusual taste, which is fine, but maybe needs to be reined in a little.

singersgirl · 26/04/2011 17:27

Ted and Maud favourites, Pip and Nell next.

Really, really dislike Moss, Beau, Boo, Dusty. (One of my children has the nickname Boo, as do thousands of other children. But he has a sensible name to take to school with him).

Any of the other real names would do for a girl - my order would be Greta, Sybil, Meredith (a bit surnamey for me).

caramelwaffle · 26/04/2011 17:27

None of them.

You did say honesty.

80sMum · 26/04/2011 17:31

I love Maud. If I were to have another dd she'd definitely be Maud.

Not too keen on your boys' names. Ted is OK, but why not plump for Edward, then it could always be shortened to Ted if you wanted (or not, if he didn't want later on , iyswim)

pinkgirlythoughts · 26/04/2011 17:34

I love Maud, really wanted it for our girls list, but absolutely everyone else (in RL) has laughed at me for it!

Ted and Nell seem a bit popular compared to the others, I've taught a Nell and two Teds, and I've only been in teaching for three years.

Out of all your names, my favourites are Ted, Maud and Sybil.

TurtlesAreRetroRight · 26/04/2011 17:37

Use any of them but Beau is a boys name. Belle is the female equivalent. It's like calling a girl Trevor.

oohlaalaa · 26/04/2011 17:48

Ted and Greta

FattyAcid · 26/04/2011 17:56

I like your names other than Beau is a boy's name! I really wouldn't advise it for a girl

tummytickler · 26/04/2011 18:01

Love Sybil, Maude and Greta

usualsuspect · 26/04/2011 18:02

I don't like any of them apart from Ted ,sorry

Maud ,especially is an awful name

BendyBob · 26/04/2011 18:04

Dusty?? (As in bin?Confused)

Jamie Oliver has a 'Boo' hasn't he? I didn't realise it was a name tbh - it sounds like a family nickname for a child. I can't imagine an adult called either of those.

messylittlemonkey · 26/04/2011 18:08

Ted and Nell

PoweredbyTea · 26/04/2011 18:09

I love Nell. Afraid am not keen on any of the others... and would go as far as saying please don't use Moss!!

livinlavidaloca · 26/04/2011 18:37

Beau and Boo - with your surname are going to sound like 'BOYEAH!'rbury... as in, the thing that rudeboy chavs say....

Pip Yerbury is like 'Pip yer Berry'

And Ted Yerbury sounds like someone mumbling 'Teddybeary'

Definately Meredith and Moss.

Checkmate · 26/04/2011 19:15

Ted or Greta.

noddyholder · 26/04/2011 19:17

Ds was going to be dusty if a girl I love it. Love all those names and several were on our list!
