How do you say the girls name Eavan? (it IS a girls name, right?)

Is it Evan like the boys name or even as in even and odd? Or are both wrong? Just from looking online it seems like there's mixed opinions. Thanks!

It's the Anglican version of Aiobheann, pronounced e-van. Not Evan, or even.

Hth.

Yes, girls name.

I thought it was Ay-van?

Famous example though: poet, Eavan Boland.

I'm Irish and I've never come across it, but it was very fashionable in Ireland back in the 90s to ransack the ancient sagas for ever more obscure old Irish names so I might've just missed it. I'm guessing e-van.

Is it not Ay (as in hay)-veen

Laughing at jobrien. Every child in the 80s got christened with a moniker from some l ancient and miserable saga!!! 5 Deirdres in my class at school.
