It's a bit early on but these are the names we've agreed on so far.

Girl: Persephone May
Boy: Dylan Llewelyn

Both middle names are family names.

I adore Persephone, especially 'Sephy', and have done for several years now (since reading Malorie Blackman), but I know it's high on the pretentious-o-meter.

We are Welsh, so can definitely get away with the boys name!

Do your worst!
Thanks.

Haha... I'm in Cwmbran... maybe you would have more of an idea. Is Persephone going to be ripped apart?

Hopefully will be in Usk/Caerleon by the time school comes around...

I like them both but agree that they would sound odd as siblings. :) I love Ianto too...but then I loved Ianto Jones. :)

Actually, Dylan Llewelyn sounds completely different in a Welsh accent. I like it.

Where on earth did Persephone come from? Is it Greek? Have to say I'm not keen. Do you have any others on your shortlist?

WishYouWereMine · 21/04/2011 00:54

Hi Marie.. yep it's Greek. I read the Malorie Blackman Noughts and Crosses series a few years ago, which is where I heard of it. She was known as Sephy.
Don't have others on the girls shortlist, we both really like it, but are aware that many people won't. Also, the area we live in is... not a place where a Persephone would have an easy time of it I think, but we are hoping to move to a better area before school.

If I were to put it diplomatically I would say you have a long time before you have to settle on a name - don't rush into it until you have found some nicer names Grin

LisMcA · 21/04/2011 01:23

Can I say I love Persephone

And don't listen to Chipping. She said my choice for DS (still baking, 5 days late now) was the equivalent to Kevin!!!!! Tis not, tis lovely :o

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 21/04/2011 09:58

Don't listen to Lis - we all know she has terrible taste in names!!!

They're so...different. Dylan is a top 10 popular name. Persephone isn't.

To be brutally honest, Sephy reminds me of syphillis. Maybe I just have a sick mind? Grin

I agree with ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie - its not a name you could say quickly 5 times

MelinaM · 21/04/2011 10:52

Usk is a far more cultured area, so I say go with it!

Persephone is the ancient Greece goddess of the underworld. Are you sure about this?
