And a few years ago it seemed every other child was Eleanor nn Ellie.

Ethel hasn't made it back, though.

Also,

Elise
Elouise
Elodie
Elizabeth

There does seem to be a lot, my DH suggested Ellen for DD- my two closest friends have an Ellie and an Eloise! Maybe easy for teachers to get mixed up if lots of names in their class sound similar?

Yes there are a lot at yes it is tricky for teachers!

Mainly because they generally go by the same nicknames rather than their actual names..

Also tricky for the children when they are very upset and telling on someone and have to explain carefully who they are talking about so you don't have a 'chat' with the wrong Ellie/Elle/Belle Sad
