Help! Stuck on names for Dd2. Why is it so hard? Had a boys name really quickly! I think I am going to have Flora as a middle name but I think that's what's putting me off the first names. What's your thoughts on

Caitlin
Abigail
Fallon or Farrah or Faryn ( too many Fs?)
Lucy (dh loves)

I don't like the Clementine type names. I would like to give my daughter a strong name any suggestions?

Caitlin - seems a bit 90's to me.
Abigail - Abby is cute but Abigail sounds a grown up name.
Fallon or Farrah or Faryn ( too many Fs?) I really like Fallon but don't know if I'd be brave enough to use it, and its a tinyyy bit 'rough' sounding-meaning not too girly. Don't like Farrah (fawcett) Faryn is very nice, I really like that.

Lucy is pretty and safe, will be a few of them about but lovely name for a baby, child and adult.
Lucy (dh loves)

Abigail Flora sounds pretty but imvho you cannot have Fallon Flora or Farrah Flora or Faryn Flora!!!

Not keen on any of the F names.

Love Lucy. Very pretty and quite underused.

Cazabelle · 13/04/2011 09:27

Thanks Abigail would probably only be a Sunday name and use Abbie. I know what you mean about F names I will need to be brave if I pick one of them and scrap Flora. Lucy is a safe name but I've got into my head it's a very weak name?

Sorry didn't see you were set on Flora as middle name,. - would say not with the F names!

Plonkerr · 13/04/2011 09:35

My favourite from your list is Lucy. It's a beautiful and feminine name IMO but then I'm biased as I have a Lucy.

FWIW she is anything but weak so I don't view it that way at all!

notanumber · 13/04/2011 09:35

I will make my default suggestion, which is Ramona. Ramona.
Ramona Flora

But otherwise, would you go for Sorrel? Seems to go with your Fallon/Farrah/Faryn names somehow.

Your choices are nice, but tbh you don't seem wild about them... Think you have to love it if you're going to use it for your child!

breadandhoney · 13/04/2011 09:36

I don't like any of the F names, and they definitely do not go with Flora as a middle name!

Lucy is lovely and i agree with collision, quite underused.

I really love Abigail. And it goes well with Flora.

What is a Clementine name?

hilltop666 · 13/04/2011 10:20

Farrah is gorgeous also love Caitlin my neice is called this and i think its lovely!!

Cazabelle · 13/04/2011 11:01

I loved Ramona till DH ruined it by going Ramona moaner! Sorrel is a surname here? Nice though. It's true I'm not wild about any, so different than before as I had names straight away but lost 2 babies last year so feel if Ive used up my names iykwim. Nothing is jumping out at me. Caitlin and Abigail are probably my favourite.
Thanks for your help

I have a Lucia, nn Lucy.

Also love Abigail.

notanumber · 13/04/2011 11:51

Hmmmm... If your DH likes Lucy, might he like Mallory? It seems a similar name but a bit 'tougher' than Lucy to me.

Mallory Flora

Possibly Lucy is more classic and timeless, and Mallory could be seen by some as verging on the C word (though I know a v v v posh Mallory). I'm not sure, trying to tap into your taste!

notanumber · 13/04/2011 11:56

Tess is also good.

It doesn't go with Flora so well, though.... Tess Flora.

Unless you use Therese as the birth certificate name (and actually, the only time you will use the middle name is when using first name in full IYSWIM, so that would work, maybe? Depends on how much you like/dislike Thesese)

Therese Flora, known as Tess.

How are we doing?

notanumber · 13/04/2011 11:57

Why not Flora as the first name, btw? It's very pretty.

notanumber · 13/04/2011 12:01

Right!

Rhiannon Flora.

Rhiannon is a strog, no-nonsense sort of name, but sounds very pleasing too.

SolarPanel · 13/04/2011 12:26

Abigail and Lucy are my favourites of your list.

How about

Josephine Flora
Miriam Flora
Kirsten Flora
Bethany Flora
Harriet Flora
Sadie Flora
Juliet Flora
Katherine Flora
Meredith Flora
Scarlett Flora
Zoe Flora
Megan Flora
Charlotte Flora

saoirse86 · 13/04/2011 12:37

I like all the F names, just not together with Flora.

Why not Flora as a first name?

springlambkin · 13/04/2011 12:39

Lucille? I love that.

breadandhoney · 13/04/2011 12:43

What is a clementine type name? Confused

loler · 13/04/2011 12:47

I think flora is lovely for a first name too.

migola · 13/04/2011 12:58

ooh yes, Lucille is lovely

(I do like Flora as first name too), and Frida

burntsienna · 13/04/2011 12:58

I am totally confused by the Mallory suggestion! Firstly why would someone who likes Lucy like Mallory? Can't see any similarity at all.

And dare I ask what "C word" is Mallory verging on? I didn't think I'd led a particularly sheltered life .... Confused

MooMooFarm · 13/04/2011 13:00

Lucy is a lovely classy name.

None of the others really appeal to me.

Happygomummy · 13/04/2011 13:02

I think there was a Fallon in Dynasty so I just think of big shoulder-pads with that name.

Lucy gets my vote

Whatevs · 13/04/2011 13:02

Love Fallon and Farrah (although very different names!).

Caitlin is awful.

Lucy is cute, but not a 'strong' name, imo.

Cazabelle · 13/04/2011 14:27

Sorry Clementine is nice but a bit old fashioned for me. I live in an area where the accent would make it sound horrible (think Rab C Nesbitt). Loving Mallory! Use to love Mallory Towers! Rhiannon is right up my street what nn would you use? I can't use Flora as it's my aunts name. Charlotte and Scarlett are nice too. You are all fab at this! I have an usual/ spelling name as does dd1 so think I'm looking for something the same.
