What do you think?

Meg's lovely. Douglas not so much. May be a bit old. Also there is a popular picture book -Hugless Douglas-which always makes me cry when hormonal at least.

Carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2011 21:53

Where do you live? Is that Duggie or the Scottish Doogie?

ConstanceFelicity · 11/04/2011 21:54

Ooooooh! Those names are so lovely together, I want to cry! :)

Jojay · 11/04/2011 21:54

We're not scottish, so Duggie.

Well, there you go. I like Douglas, but I find Meg an abrupt, clunky and ugly name for a little girl.

If you really like it, at least give her the full name and not the nickname, then she will have some options. If Margaret is not acceptable, there are variations such as Margarita or Marguerite.

suzikettles · 11/04/2011 21:55

I've got an Uncle Douglas and Aunt Margaret

suzikettles · 11/04/2011 21:56

What about Megan?

Jojay · 11/04/2011 21:56

DH prefers Megan to Meg, but there's something about Meg....

Nutmeg

Jojay · 11/04/2011 22:07

I think I agree with Constance Grin

Thanks all - food for thought...

I think they're lovely names together, but I did assume were scottish...

Carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2011 22:09

I think it has a lot to do with who you know with the names etc. I think Meg is incredibly cute. I picture a little bundle of mischief.
I think Douglas is more manly but Duggie is cute when he is wee.
Congratulations on the twins. I am Envy

franke · 11/04/2011 22:10

assume YOU were scottish.

Jojay · 11/04/2011 22:14

Ds1 and 2 are Jasper and Edward (Ed).

I think Jasper, Ed, Dougie and Meg sounds quite cool!!

Thanks Carrots Smile We're very excited too, now we're over the shock Grin

Lovely. But Meg is a nn so I'd give her a fuller name for birth cert/future purposes. Megan or Margaret (I'd go with Megan).

candleshoe · 11/04/2011 22:15

Too many Gs?

candleshoe · 11/04/2011 22:17

Margaret and Douglas are lovely though but perhaps not together?

My DTSs are William and Charles (accidentally very royal!! wish i'd asked MNers first)

Bookswapper · 11/04/2011 22:18

I absolutely bloody love Douglas and Meg....wish I could use these!!
So fab separately and together!

littlemd · 11/04/2011 22:35

Really lovely names. Meg is beautiful just as it is. Many conratulations x

hellymelly · 11/04/2011 22:43

I love those together-Somehow Iimagine two sweet natured, kind and good humoured rosy cheeked children!!

Hedwig3 · 12/04/2011 09:24

Great choices.

notanumber · 12/04/2011 10:04

Yes, absolutely. These are very good names. No further discussion needed Grin.

pinkgirlythoughts · 12/04/2011 10:13

Both lovely names, but I think I'd go for Douglas and Megan/Margaret, known as Dougie and Meg, rather than giving one child a 'proper' name with its own nickname, and the other child just a nickname, if you see what I mean.

Mum2Pea · 12/04/2011 10:30

I agree, think they should both have 'proper names' so Douglas and Margaret / Megan - personally prefer Megan
Dougie and Meg are love nn for children
