girl's list is still far too long!

We've narrowed our boy's list down to three names (Zachary Frederick, Frederick Arthur and Frederick James, in that order), and I'm quite happy to take three names to hospital and see what he looks most like.

But our girl's list is still massive! We've crossed off all the names we're not too bothered about, and are really struggling to narrow it down any more now. I don't want to take fifteen names to hospital with me! Help!
Here's the list as it stands at the minute:

Alice Imogen
Alice Rebecca
Alice Evelyn
Alice Amelia
Annabelle Charlotte
Annabelle Mary
Annabelle Rebecca
Annabelle Saoirse
Annabelle Tamsin
Imogen Cecelia
Imogen Beatrice
Orla Beatrice
Orla Catherine
Lila Beatrice
Lila Mary

Not a huge fan of Cecelia, Orla, Lila or Saoirse(pretty, but no-one knows how to pronounce it!) if that helps! LOVE Annabelle Charlotte, Alice Amelia and Imogen Beatrice!

Emelene · 11/04/2011 19:09

I like Alice Amelia the best. All nice names though, good luck finding the perfect name!

freesias · 11/04/2011 19:10

not keen on lila ,orla or imogen and would only use saoirse if you have an irish heritage

anabelle charlotte is beautiful
alice is pretty but don't particularly like the middle nmaes you've put with it
alice evelyn probably my second favourite

love cecelia but would spell it cecilia

minipie · 11/04/2011 19:11

I'd go for Alice or Imogen as a first name. Alice Evelyn is lovely.

MelinaM · 11/04/2011 19:57

I'd have Alice or Lila as her first name, Annabelle, Imogen and Orla are extremely popular at the moSmile I know Alice is quite popular but not too much so iykwim, and Alice and lila are such beautiful names!

Alice Amelia, or Alice Imogen, and Lila BeatriceSmile Lovely!

burntsienna · 11/04/2011 20:29

Some of those are a bit of a mouthful. The one I like most there is Tamsin, underused as far as I'm aware. It's a contraction of Thomasin/Thomasina, so I believe.

Most of the others are pretty well-worn and/or trendy. I would promote Tamsin and worry about a second name later, but that's just me.

notanumber · 11/04/2011 20:48

I like Orla Catherine. I am least keen on theAnnabelle varients.

But all your choices are nice. Forget about dismissing names for being too popular - that way lies a daughter caleed Zoovah - which one do you love the most?

Carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2011 20:50

I like the two Orla's the best personally.

seeker · 11/04/2011 20:53

Imogen Cecelia

emeraldislander · 11/04/2011 22:37

Annabelle and Saoirse don't blend particularly well

SolarPanel · 11/04/2011 23:30

I like Annabelle Mary and Annabelle Rebecca best. Alice is OK. Not keen on Imogen, Orla or Isla. Some of the middle names would make very nice first names - Rebecca, Amelia, Charlotte, Mary, Cecilia, Beatrice, Catherine.

pinkgirlythoughts · 12/04/2011 09:24

Melina, about 75% of our list is too popular for my liking really, but DP is very much an 'if it ain't in the top ten, I'm not interested' kinda guy, so the majority of these names have been a real compromise for us!

And burntsienna, we chose Tamsin because of it being a contraction of Thomasina, as DP is Tom, so thought it would be a nice way to name her after her daddy :)

Orla Beatrice stands out a mile for me (in a good way)

brightcopperkettles · 12/04/2011 10:10

Orla Catherine, Lila Mary or Alice Mary for me.

burntsienna · 12/04/2011 11:12

Oh, in that case I'd definitely go for Tamsin, as a first name!

stegasaurus · 12/04/2011 11:13

I was hoping to find someone with a similar problem to me, but my too long girls' name shortlist has 14 names on it and that's just the first names not middle names too. You only have 5 first names to choose from. Somehow DH and I have managed to narrow our boys' names down to 2 or 3, possibly because he doesn't like most of the names I liked so there weren't many we both agree on, and we always knew what our boy's middle name will be.

pinkgirlythoughts · 12/04/2011 12:28

Ah, stegasaurus, I feel your pain! We started out like that, too, but I'm 35 weeks now, so we've had plenty of time to argue over it narrow it down!

Definately Annabelle, it is a beautiful name. Not sure on the middle names you have put with it, either Charlotte or Catherine (if I am allowed to move it)!

DownyEmerald · 12/04/2011 15:25

It is only five names tho isn't it. See which she looks like, and then which middle goes best with it. You are mostly going to only call her by one name.

IMHO not Annabelle but I am biased.

We wrote our five names on a peice of paper and stuck it on the wall in hospital (was in for five days tho'). Hid it when parents visited! We chose the one that we'd never thought of till I was in labour.

oohlaalaa · 12/04/2011 15:27

Like:

Alice Rebecca
Imogen Beatrice
Orla Beatrice

Don't like Annebel spelt Annabelle

FanjoForTheMusic · 12/04/2011 21:01

Lila Beatrice for me!

BosomForAPillow · 12/04/2011 21:29

I'd go with Alice and Annabelle and see what she looks like - then decide middle name a bit later once you have tried them all out with your chosen first name.

Charlotte or Rebecca are my favourite for middle names and I think they both go with Alice/Annabelle.
