Is it too twee or a lovely underused name? Which spelling is the best?

Would also like some middle name suggestions. I was thinking along the lines of Mirabel Catherine or Mirabelle Daisy.

Many thanks

A bit frilly for my taste.

It's lovely, Mirabel would be my preferred spellingSmile

DesertOrchid · 06/04/2011 22:18

I do like it, but it also sounds a lot like 'mirror-ball' to me... :-/

Because of that I prefer the elle spelling.

bananamom · 06/04/2011 22:50

It's a bit princessy for my taste. I would go for the Mirabel spelling as it's less fluffy.

Emelene · 07/04/2011 10:03

I personally don't like it. It's too fluffy.
But if you like it, I'd spell it Mirabel. :)

kreecherlivesupstairs · 07/04/2011 10:10

Comic from the 70s was my first thought, second thought was DD read a series of books about a Princess Mirabell who unsurprisingly appears through a mirror.
If you are set on it, I'd go for Mirabel, the second spelling looks like Clarabelle the cow.

OrangeBernard · 07/04/2011 10:11

I prefer the first spelling. I think its a nice alternative to the over used isabel

changer22 · 07/04/2011 10:14

Mirabelle for me.

BlueChampagne · 07/04/2011 13:15

Go for a classic middle name in case she goes through a phase of hating Mirabel(le). Therefore I'd favour Catherine over Daisy.

Alternatives to Mirabel(le) might be Miranda, or, one I came across the other day, Mireia.

Middle names to consider:
Victoria, Christina, Louisa - think Royalty.

qwerty123 · 07/04/2011 13:35

Love your name choice. You won't please everybody - it's not even possible! Agree that Mirabel is best spelling. Mirabel Catherine my favoured option.

AliSheedy · 07/04/2011 14:32

Too fussy and cutesy and 'bunny wabbits and candy floss' for me.

Miriam has more class.

MarieFromStMoritz · 07/04/2011 14:35

I love it, but then The Mirabelle is my favourite restaurant Smile

NadiaWadia · 07/04/2011 15:47

I think it's very pretty. There are so many Isabels and Annabels out there so why not Mirabel? Bit different. The 'belle' ending is a bit too frilly, though, prefer one 'l'.

SolarPanel · 07/04/2011 18:02

I like it, and Daisy or Catherine would be nice as middle names (personally prefer Daisy).

Mirabelle Faith
Mirabelle Sarah
Mirabelle Xanthe
Mirabelle Georgia
Mirabelle Felicity
Mirabelle Hannah
Mirabelle Zoe

ValiumSoltera · 07/04/2011 19:23

I love Maribel and Mirabel. Mirabelle is a bit much when you see it written down.

EricNorthmansMistress · 08/04/2011 14:04

I think it's twee and fluffy but that's just my taste. I saw someone on FB refer to their DD 'Meribelle' the other day I feel like I need to brush my teeth after saying those type of names.

LetThereBeRock · 08/04/2011 14:06

It's bad.Much too cutesy and twee. Miriam is nicer.

Tolalola · 08/04/2011 16:16

Reminds me of the restaurant or the yacht. Not keen. (Although both the restaurant and the yacht are lovely). It seems a bit twee for an actual person, to me.

mrsdaz · 08/04/2011 16:35

I like it and would spell it elle

Bumperlicioso · 08/04/2011 16:46

I like it, but not with Daisy.

bt1978 · 08/04/2011 16:50

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the name. Want it for DC2 if it turns out to be a girl but DH doesn't like it.

I would go with Mirabel as a spelling.
