Caspar or William?

Can't decide whether our DS due in June should have a traditional or not-so traditional name. Middle names will be George Henry (after Grandads). We have two daughters - Saffron and Beatrice.

Any suggestions/thoughts (kind ones please) gratefully received!

Not keen on Caspar at all, reminds me of the ghost.

William is lovely. My 5 yo daughter is going to marry the Will thats in her class apparently, he is a lovely little boy though!!

I LOVE Caspar. People will bang on about some ghost or other that I've never heard of and isn't on television anymore. Was it a television programme? Maybe it was a book. No idea. It's a lovely, traditional name.

William's good too. Fine, upstanding, strong name. Popular though and not as interesting as Caspar by a country mile.

Thanks! When we've tried out Caspar we've had the response 'ooh the friendly ghost!', which I would imagine would be annoying in the playground. However, that film was released years ago and the tv series was in the 60's I think. So we thought maybe we could get away with it. But I love William too - it's a family name and strong, with less potential for mickey taking. This is so hard - we found the girls MUCH easier to name!

William.

DD would have been William, but obviously not.

Older DS says this is appropriate as "she's a bit of a penis".

Don't you just love teenagers?

They're both lovely names. I've never seen the ghost film and it will become less relevant as time goes by.

"When we've tried out Caspar we've had the response 'ooh the friendly ghost!', which I would imagine would be annoying in the playground." There's your answer then!

Really like Bill/Billy as nn for William.

Def William, do not like Caspar at all. Great middle names aswell.

Sounds nice with the girls names.

JuicyOlive · 05/04/2011 11:41

I don't like the sound Caspar makes either - very hissy.

William so much nicer, and 'goes' with your DDs names.
