Yes, no?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
emkana · 02/04/2011 23:21

No

Clary · 02/04/2011 23:21

"Focus, Barnaby, Focus!" - as overheard shouted by a parent of a 6yo at a football match.

My fave MN quote ever. I am certain thename makes it better (tho "Focus, James, focus" would be pretty ludicrous shouted at a 6yo too Grin)

SO maybe I am saying no. A bit too fancy perhaps?

smother · 02/04/2011 23:22

No

HaggisNeepsnTatties · 02/04/2011 23:23

No. It's something you would call a teddy bear.

jumpyjack · 02/04/2011 23:23

I say no, but I know plenty of others like it.

To me, I see and hear "barny" which I don't think is nice. And Barney, which is worse. It just seems a bit ridiculously fluffly for a boy, with no nice nicknames. But I might be alone on this one.

jumpyjack · 02/04/2011 23:24

Or maybe not Grin

I love it, shame it sounds very silly with our surname.

CharlieBoo · 03/04/2011 07:55

Its just so wet! So no....

WinkyWinkola · 03/04/2011 07:55

Love it. Not Barney though.

ValiumSoltera · 03/04/2011 09:58

lol at focus Barnaby, focus!

That's a classic alright. It's up there with 'a slush puppy is like a granita darling'.

Barnaby is ok. But Barney is almost inevitable I would say, and it is so daft. I would really hate to be called Barney. It has a stupid vibe. dykwim?

BristolJim · 03/04/2011 10:03

No Barnaby ever amounted to much in this world and to a man I reckon they'd all blame their name for holding them back. For role models, you're looking at Barney Rubble and that's about it. It's a sidekick's name, not the name of a leading man. So no.

LetThereBeRock · 03/04/2011 11:06

A very definite no.It's an awful name, and best reserved for dogs.

vaginiasmonalogue · 03/04/2011 12:53

ew no sorry!

Meglet · 03/04/2011 12:53

Yes. Fab name Smile

fenner · 03/04/2011 12:56

Suits a teddy bear more than a boy. Sorry, Barnabies of the world.

Well, it's only opinions. I love the name and maybe future Barnabys of the world will set it alight. But who cares as long as you like it.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/04/2011 19:26

I used to love Barnaby the bear!
Knew a very cool Barney at school so I quite like it.

banjomanjo · 03/04/2011 19:27

Yes!

banjomanjo · 03/04/2011 19:28

And re names holding people back, that is ridiculous!!!

alemci · 03/04/2011 19:41

yes definitely Barnaby the bear is what I associate this name with

'Barnaby the Bears my name
never call me Jack or Jane'

shmoz · 03/04/2011 19:46

Barnaby is ok if you are Barnaby the bear

Barney is ok if you are a purple dinosaur

Barnes is only ok if your surname is Wallis and you invented the bouncing bomb

HTH

Yamba · 03/04/2011 21:18

Hate Barnaby.
Love Barney......top of my list for 3rd baby we're not having (sigh). DH thinks its a dogs name though.

catinthehat2 · 03/04/2011 21:44

I cannot see beyond that I'm afraid
