Expecting DC1 in september, if its a little girl we're pretty set on Molly (middle name of Jane) barring anyone pregnant we know calling their little girl that first! But for a boy i'm stumped! The shortlist of names i don't hate is:
Noah
Isaac
Gideon (DH's suggestion not entirely happy)
Jacob
Augustine (would be auggie)

im not settled with any of them, and tbh its keeping me up at night, and im worried there'll be 15 kids in his class with the same name etc....
HELP!:(

I love Noah and Isaac but they are very popular at the moment. (I have an Oliver though which is even more popular! Grin ) Not keen on Gideon. Jacob is nice and I know an Auggie which is short for August.

I only really liked Oliver when I had Ds. If DC2 had been a boy, I would have really struggled.

Love Augustin/e and how about August or Augustus? Gideon is nice too, and I'm less keen on Jacob, Noah and Isaac.

I love August, and am considering it for a girl as she will be born in August.

only problem i have with augustus is the willy wonka character Augustus gloop, by association i just couldnt call DS that, my problem is probably mostly down to pickiness :(

Like Jacob, Noah and Isaac (was number 2 on our list for recent ds but went for our first choice) although they are v popular. Think with boys names it is harder to find something 'different' that is not a bit poncey/try hard.
I would guess Noah and Isaac getting more popular though and Jacob maybe on its way down.

Gideon is quite nice though makes me think of bibles in hotel rooms.

Augustine is not my cup of tea at all!

If you're worried about popularity, I'd avoid Isaac, Noah and probably Jacob/Jake.

Gidoen is nice and not as overused as the others. Augustine is nice too, although I think I'd spell it Augustin as the -ine version looks very feminine (it is in German and French anyway).

BelligerentGhoul · 30/03/2011 18:50

Adore Gideon. The others are all nice, apart from Augustine/Auggie which is dreadful imho.

tammytoby · 30/03/2011 19:27

sorry, I misspelt Gideon. Lovely name!

I have a 5 yr old Gideon - he's the only one I know but it's not so weird that people have to ask how to spell it!
