Apart from Frederic(k) and Alfred, is there any other name Fred is short for?

Thank you.

Unfortunately I do not really like any of these but do love Fred/Freddie.

Do many people just use Fred on the birth certificate?

I don't like them either OP, just scraping the barrel to try to answer your question! What's wrong with Frederick or Alfred? I really like Frederick, it's a nice classic name and it's by far the most usual longer name that gets shortened to Fred. I'd always go for a longer name on the BC but quite a few people do just use the short versions these days - Charlie, Alfie and so on.

Fred is a lovely name. Freddie for a little boy growing into Fred as a teenager. Mind you, Freddie would be quite rock and roll!

I'd definately give your son a full name and use Fred as a nickname. This gives him more options later on in life.

Frederick or Alfred?
