Hi, DH and I are really struggling with boys names, i always loved the name Cohen but a girl living quite close to me has named her little boy Cohen (hes prob 4yrs old now) so it kind off put me off, we haven't really found anything else we love and i was kind of half sleeping half dreaming last night and thought of spelling it with an 'a' instead so looked up Cohan pronounced co-an, and its a real name not a made up one. It means 'one who is a preist' in hebrew.

So what do you think of it mn-ers??

Girls name chosen is Raine, or Georgia btw .

What about Conan? How are you pronouncing Reine? I like Georgia Grin

Oh I skimmed the thread.
Alpine, is it not a real name?
Does it sound like skewing a spelling to fit your purpose?

Wipsglitter we would pronounce Reina just like rain-a, there are quite a few different spellings of this so im not really set on one yet, theres also Rainah and a few more.

Cohan is actually a name not just Cohen spelt wrong so i've no problems using it, the Irish version is with an 'a' not an 'e'. I shouldn't have mentioned the jewish connection in my op and just stated the Irish connection and then it may have been seen as a different name possibly Hmm anyway I still love it and will prob still use it if the LO is a boy!

Yes I know someone called Raina am not sure how it's spelt though and is pronounced Rayhna (I'm also in norn iron). I've never heard Cohan though, but again if you pronounce it with a soft h it will distinguish it from the Cohen sound.
