Arianna is nice. Are you after more suggestions?

BuntyPenfold · 17/03/2011 11:49

I know an Arianne - very pretty name -but school call her Harry Anne Confused

blueberrymuffins · 17/03/2011 12:10

Yes would like other sugestions. Quite like names which end in Anna, but dont want that as a name alone. Don't really like Brianna or Kianna but cant think of any others. I know Sienna is similar, but I know not many people are very keen either

Amelia? Adriana? (I love Adriana!)

JiltedJohnsJulie · 17/03/2011 12:13

There was a thread on here not so long ago where someone put up a link to a site where you could put in the endings of names and get suggestions.

Unhelpfully I can't remember what it was called though.

Carrotsandcelery · 17/03/2011 12:15

Arriety? She is the main female character in the novel The Borrowers. I have always loved the name. I am not sure of the spelling though to be honest. (not the anna ending you are after though I know)
Dianna?
Rhianna?

blueberrymuffins · 17/03/2011 12:18

OMG I lve the name Arriety. Need to check the spelling, but woud have never have thought of it before. I dont like Adriana as I dont like the name Adrian.

I love Arianna - it was on my girls shortlist last time, and i think it'll make it this time too. Only i'd probably shorten it to 'Ari, if i was going to.

kiwidreamer · 17/03/2011 12:20

Ariadne - greek name meaning 'most holy' (ar-ee-AHD-nee)

"Ariadne has 14 variant forms: Arene, Aria, Ariadna, Ariana, Ariane, Arianie, Arianna, Arianne, Ariette, Aryana, Aryane, Aryanie, Aryanna and Aryanne.

Baby names that sound like Ariadne are Ardine, Ardene and Arthene."

But its the Anna not the Ari that you like so might not be quite right

Carrotsandcelery · 17/03/2011 12:22

It seems the spelling is Arrietty!

leothelioness · 17/03/2011 12:25

DS1 and DS2 would have been Arianna if they had been girls, I love the name.

Pasiphae · 17/03/2011 12:30

It's a fab name. Marianna, Adrianna. Ariella. Irina. Aliana, Aretha, Amaya?

blueberrymuffins · 17/03/2011 12:34

Its the pronounciation I have trouble explaining to people.

Ive had

Arry-anna
Arry-are-na
A-rianna
Airy-anna
Airy-arna
Are-ee-anna

According the pronoucaition sites if you listen to them its the last one on the list

I love the name Arianna. My DDs middle name is Orianna so very similar. Sometimes wish I had used this for her first name.

NadiaWadia · 17/03/2011 13:01

Diana
Gianna (Italian)
Joanna
Lianna (?)
Marianna
Rhianna
Susanna (best name ever!)

CaptainNancy · 17/03/2011 13:01

I think the name Ariana is incredibly pretty. (Arry-are-na)

NadiaWadia · 17/03/2011 13:03

Rosanna

shouldnotbehere · 17/03/2011 13:42

Aurelia

lilaloves · 17/03/2011 14:01

My ds went to school with a very beautiful Lilianna,Had never heard it before.

Quenelle · 17/03/2011 15:29

I like Arianna but it has too many syllables for my taste. How about Alana?

blueberrymuffins · 17/03/2011 15:37

i want to name her alana sooooo much, but a work colleague has the name and it seems weird naming her it

I don't think it is hard to pronounce at all Confused, it is beautiful go for it :)

Vassia · 17/03/2011 16:59

I know an Aria, I like that. Think it might depends on your accent though whether its a name you like or not. I know that sounds daft, but some name's with a Scottish accent just sound a bit....off.
