What's the view on rhyming names?

So, we have two possible names for DC, and a complex situation - they need to be Welsh, old, but not too unpronounceable.
I can't reveal the 2 names or I'll reveal the sex which nobody knows but me and DH!

Slight issue:
first name ends in -wy, second name starts with wy. This rhymes, an internal rhyme. Like Anna Natalie, or Sally Leanne or something like that (can't think of a male version, and there is a consonant before - so it would be -wy cwy-). Not Jason Mason style.

Is this too weird? Or have I spent too long working on Welsh poetry (full of internal rhyme...)

I came on here imagining you were planning to call your baby Caron Sharon, and I planned to talk some sense into you, but no need.

I think it's nice actually - sort of links the two names so they are good together - but not too obviously. Bet a lot of people wouldn't notice.

Help if we had the real names! Couldn't you find a welsh proxy name with the -wy ending and a surname like yours with a -wy start?

OK, thanks! I do work on medieval Welsh stuff, and the poetry is full of it...guess it's nice to have a name that works!

I will reveal the middle name - it's a bit obscure and very local, and a proxy -wy first name:

Myfanwy Cwyfan Surname.

(I personally hate Myfanwy as a name, so if you do too, try to get over that hurdle!!)

Phew. Glad Myfanwy isn't the real choice. It's not so much the name as what English classmates will do to it. However, the central premise seems fine to me. Tho' do bear in mind the absolute inability of anyone not welsh to ever promounce anything welsh. DD2 has a Welsh middle name (as do I, and all my sibs) and I am so glad it is not her first name as no-one seems to be able to pronounce it, even after coaching (it's Eirlys btw, so not even that hard...; I wanted Arianwen, but DH vetoed it)

I think you may be influenced by the time you have spent at work reading the medieval writings because to anyone else it's not going to be considered rhyming, I doubt anyone will even notice.

As long as you're not naming twins Darren and Sharon, I think it's ok.

If Welsh poetry is full of internal rhyme then the name will sound poetic and it will sound "right" :)

I think it's fine. You'll hardly ever actually have to say the full name out loud anyway.

I'm having this issue when I think about changing my surname to my DP's if/when we get married. My first name ends with 'ruh' (like Sarah or Laura) and his last name begins with 'ruh' (like 'rustic' or 'runner').

I'm quite relieved that people don't think it sounds too silly; I've been over-thinking it for some time.

Nikita Marguerita was a name I loved, just for the rhythm of it. DH wasn't quite so out of his head on hormones and told me I was being an arse.

Neither can I. I was thinking more along the lines of Sharon McLaren or Laura Storer or Grace Chase etc.

I like it - sorry I disappeared. I quite like Myfanwy tho'! Like I said before I think it adds to the complementariness (I've invented a word!) of the names, without screaming RHYMING NAMES at you.
