Is it silly to name DS1 so that his initials will be GBH?

1 week to go and we've just realised our favourite 1st and middle names will result in GBH! Hmm

Yes. Please rethink!

greedychops · 12/03/2011 22:08

I wouldn't let that put you off too much if you love the names. it's hard enough getting names that you like without having to check the initial too - unless it's actually rude or something.

greedychops · 12/03/2011 22:09

Maybe there is something rude about gbh that I don't know about?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 12/03/2011 22:09

Yes it is.

At school we had to have our initials embroidered on our PE kit (including middle names).

If either of our ds's had been girls, I've just realised that their initials would have been LMP - not great!

meditrina · 12/03/2011 22:10

It's unfortunate, but if you really, really love the names, I think it is liveable with.

I'd think of the criminal offence (which is pretty safe for the playground IYSWIM), rather than the drug.

PepsiPopcorn · 12/03/2011 22:33

A rethink would be good IMO.

BuntyPenfold · 12/03/2011 23:23

Is it that bad?
I know an ADHD and his parents are both teachers (and loons imo)

crystalglasses · 12/03/2011 23:26

Don't do it. It will dog him forever

emmylou157 · 12/03/2011 23:31

My dads initials are GBH and it doesn't cause him a problem. Most people would not work it out. We discovered DD;s initiaks were NIL when she was 6 weeks old - nonne else has noticed yet and shes 7.5 months now.

catbus · 12/03/2011 23:31

Oh don't worry about it: I never bothered to realise until the deed was done, that DC2 is OMG..! Given her personality, it's very fitting!

BuntyPenfold · 12/03/2011 23:33

OMG {grin]

catbus · 12/03/2011 23:50

If you met her, you would honestly see how fitting this was Grin: she is coming up for 8 now, and DH pointed it out last week: I truely had never realised/thought about it til then!

catbus · 12/03/2011 23:52

When you think about it, it could be worse: WTF, FFS, PMS, LOL, spring to mind.. I wonder how many people's initials are FFS??!!

fruitshootsandheaves · 12/03/2011 23:53

My initial were G.O at school we had to have them written on our shoes for PE so when I lined up for any sort of running event...well
Even worse my uncles initials were B.O....

DS's initial are JCB

PepsiPopcorn · 13/03/2011 00:03

Wonder whether anyone has the initials AIBU? :o

QuickLookBusy · 13/03/2011 00:07

I wouldn't worry too much. I don't think many children would understand GBH would they? Unless they had experience in that area of courseGrin

Underachieving · 13/03/2011 16:02

I do think GBH is a bad choice. I don't veto a lot of intitials but ones best known as serious interpersonal assault are probably not the best idea.

SoupDragon · 13/03/2011 16:03

Yes.

I've just said this on another thread, but why not add a second middle name?
