DP wont join in, will you help me think of names?

I am not one of these women that loves being pregnant, I do not wear it well. The only bit I like about it except the net result is thinking up names.

Last time DP and I spent hours delightedly choosing and rechoosing names for DD2 (now 5 months) but this time (12 weeks pg) he wont play. Sad I think he's tired from all the extra work. There will be 52 weeks between the babies.

The boys name is looking likely to be Miles Aubrey but that doesn't mean you can't make suggestions and I have no idea at all on the girls names yet.

Anyone fancy helping?

Love your boys name choice. How about Beatrice or Florence for a girl?

Lovely boys name.

I suggest Rose.

JobCarHouseNoBaby · 08/03/2011 11:14

Sorry but Miles just reminds me of a cartoon character (can't remember which programme, but I'm a 90s kid)

I think that traditional names are good, they age well and are actually relatively unpopular these days:

Thomas
Mathew
Daniel
James
William
Alexander

Victoria
Elizabeth (Lizzie or Betsy for short)
Kathryn (traditional name, modern spelling)
Amy
Abigail
Charlotte

I do also very much like Olivia, Sophie and Evie but there are so many of those around at the moment

Romille
Bo
Romy
Ethne
Estelle
Jeanie
Romilly

Matthew
Christopher
Sam
Smile

My current favourite girls names (when I'm day dreaming about having another daughter) are

Harriet
Constance
Josephine
Violet
Rose
Iris
Florence

Aayla is my daugter's middle name and I think it's lovely.

Aubrey is ridiculous

While I do like Aubrey as a name it's quite common for girls in the USA. That doesn't stop it being unisex or just a boys name on a girl (in top 40 I believe, we liked Aubrie and Avrie for a short time), though, so if you like it then go for it.

It is also the name of rapper/singer "Drake" (Aubrey Graham..he is male.) So my eldest dd would definitely approve. I'm sure it is a definite good name in her book, Grin

As far as girls go, could you not use Aubrey or Aubrie on a girl, then you get to use the name.

Other names which I like are

Coraline
Romily
Sorcha/Saoirse
Greta
Elena/Eleni
Elizabeth - Liza or Lizzie
Iris
Ivy
Alexandria - Lexie
Anabella/Arabella
Autumn
River
Elspeth

My 'current' favourites for girlies -

Phoebe
Lilia
Sophia
Mica
Robyn
Imogen
Pearl
Harriet
Elizabeth
Amelia
Farah
Charlotte
Scarlet
Mabel
(could go on all day)

For boys:

Oliver (biased)
Isaac
Sebastian
River
(and then I struggle)
Loving Aubrey though! :)

Sorry I did the maths wrong. Little one is 20 weeks (born mid Oct), and the new one is due within a week of her birthday, so on a recount I think I'm 8 weeks not 12.

Thank you so much for your inputs. I had to smile as I have a DS who would now be 13 (late MC) from a previous relationship and DP has 2 adult sons from a previous relationship. Our boys have 5 names between them and they've all been suggested. You lot have great taste in boys names haha!

I'm not too woried about Aubrey having been used for girls in the USA as I've got no connection with there. To me though it's very much an adult mans name, so I wont be considering it for a girl.

Of the suggestions so far the ones that are jumping out:
Talia/Thalia (silent H)
Coralie/Coraline
Aurora
Violet (but do not like Vi)
Lillian/Lilia
Romilly (no spelling preference yet)
Ivy

I also thought of Aurelia, what do we think of that?

Thalia was what we expected to call DD2 but she clearly wasn't a Thalia when she was born, so she ended up a Saffron, which more suited her bright sunny scampish nature.

Then for boys:
Sebastian is gorgeous, possibly enough to change my mind for, although DP hated it last time, but if he wont join in that's tough luck on him really. Grin

Because of initials, we can't have any names beginning with P. Otherwise Pearl would have been lovely.
